Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Physical Description:

Zsa Zsa possesses these big brown cow eyes that you can't help but wonder what she is thinking about. Her face has a bit of pink just under her nose with a white stripe that comes down her head and spills out over her snoot. She is a pint sized gal with a grey and black splotched merle coat. Zsa Zsa's undercarriage is white she has just a bit of white on a front paw and 2 white toes on her back paw.

Current Living Situation:

Zsa Zsa is fostered in a home with two adults with no kids or other pets. She is taken on a leash to use the restroom multiple times a day due to the foster home having a partially fenced yard. Zsa Zsa is able to roam freely at night and when home alone. She is taken on a short walk daily and thrives on short walks. She also loves car rides even if she doesn't get out.

Personality:

Zsa Zsa is very independent. She is not a dog that will snuggle up on the couch next to you but would rather find her own spot to sleep. She has a low/medium energy level and sometimes enjoys playing independently with her toys.

Behavior with people:

Zsa Zsa loves meeting new people. She is always eager to meet anyone she sees on walks and in the car. She adores visitors in the home and wants all of their attention.

Behavior with children:

Zsa Zsa loves children, but she can sometimes get overly excited when first meeting them. Older children is recommended.

Behavior with other dogs:

Zsa Zsa's behavior with other dogs is unknown. While we can not make any guarantees, at this time, we believe it's possible that Zsa Zsa could live with a compatible male with slow and intentional introductions.

Behavior with other animals:

Zsa Zsa shows medium prey drive towards other small animals like bunnies and squirrels. She will slightly pull on the leash but is easily redirected.

Training:

Zsa Zsa appears to be fully housebroken and has had no accidents in her foster home. She is crate trained but is now able to roam free in the house when home alone and has shown no sign of destruction. Zsa Zsa is very food-motivated and loves to sit for treats. She can be stubborn at times but will do what you tell her even if she doesn't want to.

Best Attribute:

Zsa Zsa always greets people with happy wiggles which always attract anyone she meets. She is also extremely independent and doesn't require tons of affection. She can have her spunky moments but it will never be too much to handle. This happy, short stacked lady would bring many giggles and a joyful feel to her forever family.
