Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Maddie, Matilda, and Maude were born into the MPR program to alumn Marmee. Marmee was in rough shape and pregnant when she came to MPR. Unfortunately, only these three puppies from Marmee's litter were able to be saved. They were very ill and needed lots of care and attention, which they received in our care. After being nursed back to health, Maddie and Maude have found their forever homes. Matilda is still available for adoption.

Health Condition:

Matilda has been through a lot in her short life! She has been slowly gaining weight and is healthy! We are still taking precautions during feedings as she can get overheated quickly.

Physical Description:

Matilda was the runt of her litter, and she's still growing, but remains on the smaller side. Her beautiful black brindle looks bronze in the sunlight. Her adorable ears are almost as big as she is!

Current Living Situation:

Matilda is currently being fostered in a home with two adults and two older dogs - ages 10 and 7. She has access to a large yard enclosed with a 6-foot privacy fence. Matilda is crated both at night and when her foster parents are not home. She has been responding very well to potty training! She's also been perfecting her leash manners while in her foster home! She has accompanied her foster mom on a few outings and was wonderfully behaved, getting along with everyone she met!

Personality:

Matilda is such a happy girl! She has a wonderfully balanced personality, and we'd describe her energy level as medium. After all, she is still a pup! Once she's gotten her zoomies out, she's ready to crawl into your lap for some love and snuggles!

Matilda is incredibly confident. It's her world, we're just living in it! She has been very social when going on outings and wants to love on everyone she sees!

Behavior with people:

Matilda has been outgoing and well-mannered when meeting new people! We don't think she's ever met a stranger!

Behavior with children:

Matilda has had limited interactions with children, but when she has come in contact with them she's been outgoing, friendly, and well behaved. We believe she could live in a home with older children.

Behavior with other dogs:

Matilda has been introduced to a few dogs while in foster care, and these interactions have gone very well. She was excited to meet these other dogs and displayed playful behavior. She also interacts with the male dog in her foster home and they have been getting along well! With proper introductions, we believe that Matilda could live with a compatible male in her forever hoe.

Behavior with other animals:

Matilda has had limited interactions with other animals. She was briefly introduced with a cat, and seemed to get along well. This interaction may not be indicative of her behavior with all cats. Very slow and structured introductions would be necessary to test out her compatibility with any cats in her forever home.

Matilda chases squirrels in the backyard and loves to bird watch. While we believe this to be of a playful nature, it is something to keep an eye on.

Training:

Training with Matilda is very fun! She is food motivated and extremely smart. She already knows sit, shake, down, roll over, and touch! She will do well with continued training.

Best Attribute:

This girl truly has it all! Her fun and spunky zest for life and her big personality may be her best attributes. She is a perfect combination of sassy, independent, and cuddly!
