Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Age: 1-3 yrs
Weight: 50-60 lbs

Health Condition:

Pua is healthy and ready for adoption!

Physical Description:

Pua is a short-stacked, stout, and dapper little tan & white pittie. His small stature would make him a good fit for an apartment or rental with size restrictions. Pua has such sweet endearing light colored eyes. He has large patches of tan spattered on his body, and his hind end is mostly tan. He also has adorable ears and a cute pouty mouth with an underbite. Pua has this handsome stoic look where he stares off into the distance wishing and daydreaming of his furever humans.

Current Living Situation:

Pua is currently living at the MPR shelter. He has been non-destructive so far, and keeps his bedding super tidy! He is generally well mannered in his kennel. Pua can be a wiggle worm or just cuddle up close all while making the cutest noises.

Pua recently spent time in a temporary foster home. He was fostered in a two bedroom apartment with one adult, one female pit bull and two domestic short hair cats. Pua was crated at night and when foster mom was not home. He was very playful with the other dog in the home, but responded very well to redirection. He and the other dog in the home were walked together daily. Pua showed interest in other dogs and people while on these walks, but again responded well to redirection. Pua also showed interest in the cats in the home, being very watchful and wanting to play. These interactions were closely monitored. Overall, Pua did very well in his temporary foster home stay! He was a great houseguest and very responsive to direction.

Personality:

Pua is a happy, playful, and loving dog! He is food motivated and eager to learn. He's intelligent, responsive, and learns very quickly! Pua would certainly benefit from a structured environment, diverse brain games, and actively engaged humans to walk and play with him. He is working on his leash manners, but doing well!

Pua is so full of life. Plus, this dude can seriously SNUGGLE!! He loves his humans and wants to be cuddling or as close to you as he can be. He's a stage five clinger in the best way!

It's almost like a fairy came by and sprinkled Pua with all the happy that has ever existed. He shimmies, bobbles, wobbles, and cuddles. He EVEN comes with his quirky sounds effects! He makes some of the amusing noises when he entertains himself with toys. He keeps our volunteers in stitches! This short stacked lil guy is sure to wiggle his way not only into your arms, but your heart.

Behavior with people:

Pua wants to meet everyone! He is a lover and wants share his love with everyone he meets. He has the most endearing stare will wanting someone to pet him. but he is not pushy or overbearing.

Behavior with children:

Pua has had limited interactions with children so his behavior is unknown. He can be excitable and impulsive so a home without small children is recommended.

Behavior with other dogs:

Pua is very intense and excitable initially with other dogs. He wants to get straight to playing, but he does pick up on social cues from other dogs during interactions. We believe that with proper introductions and leadership from a breed-knowledgeable owner, Pua could live with a compatible female with a similar energy level and desire for playing.

Behavior with other animals:

While in his temporary foster, Pua showed signs of prey drive while on walks. He showed interest in squirrels and birds, wanting to jump after them but stopped once he got to the end of the leash. He would then intensely watch the animal.

Pua coexisted with two cats in his foster home. He would watch them intensely and occasionally try to initiate play. He responded to direction from the cats when they were not interested in playing. He would stay interested in interacting with them, but redirected well when given direction from foster mom. While we can not make any guarantees regarding his behavior with cats, it's possible that with very slow and supervised introductions Pua may be able to live with a dog-savvy cat. All interactions with the cats in his foster home were very closely monitored.

Training:

Pua knows commands such as Sit, Look, Touch & Down. He has perfected those and is treat motivated to learn more! Volunteers continue to actively coach Pua. He is crate trained and had no trouble at all with the kennel in his foster home. He appears to be mostly housebroken, only having accidents in his foster home during the initial transition. His foster mom worked diligently with him on redirection, especially with distractors such as dogs outside. Pua is a quick learner, food motivated, and eager to please! He will benefit from continued training in his forever home.

Best Attribute:

Pua has an insurmountable amount of love to give and a playfulness about him that will make you fall in love with him over and over again. He is an adorable lil guy that wants to please, cuddle, learn, and play! He is a sweet natured, happy-go-lucky goofball. He'll be your best friend who will always be there for you. Won't you let Pua wiggle his way into your loving arms?!
