Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Peeps came in as a stray to the city shelter, was adopted out, rehomed then dumped back to original adopters who still didn't want her then put with a relatives older unfriendly dog that attacked her and finally dumped back to the city shelter all within her very young life. When they asked us to consider her to help the fate of her future we couldn't resist saying yes!

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 yrs
Weight: 35 - 45 lbs

Health Condition:

Peeps came to us with some possible signs of life on a chain. She had a scar around her neck reminiscent of some sort of embedded collar. Her fur has started to cover it over nicely and it never broke that spunky spirit! She is all healthy and ready for adoption!

Physical Description:

Pint size powerhouse!! Peeps is like a shrunken full grown Pit Bull! She has a strong athletic body with well muscled legs with great conformation. Peeps, aptly named after the Peeps Bunnies, with her adorable and expressive face with those big round eyes and dare we forget the magnificent specimens of tall and wide radio signal like ears with the perfect little ear tip flips make her look like the cutest bunny treat you ever did see! Her gorgeous thick blue/grey coat with her little white toe tips that of course enhance her tippy tap toe dances she does when excited just rounds out how precious she is!

Current Living Situation:

Peeps is currently at our small shelter in a large kennel with indoor and outdoor access. She tends to keep her kennel pretty clean for her age growing up in rough situations and seems to be using her doggie door to do her business outside. This volunteer favorite is always Super excited to hangout with her humans as she knows she will either get to play and expel her energy in the big yard playing fetch or show off her smarts with a puzzle. After her timeout she goes peacefully to sleep in her kennel dreaming of her forever home.

Personality:

Cheerleader, quite actually Peeps is life's personal cheerleader! She exudes happiness and positivity. Peeps is Love! This fun gal has a lot of energy but is also 100% down to velcro herself next to you and stare into your soul as she IS your best friend whether you know it or not lol! Peeps is looking for someone who is willing to give her all that back to her as well, after all, don't we all deserve a cheerleader in our corner?!

Behavior with people:

She LOVES her Humans! After all she's been through with sooo many people tossing her from one home to another this beautiful soul Still Loves Us! The excitement in her body when she sees you is catching. If you are looking for never ending love in your life, here's your gal!

Behavior with children:

We have not had Peeps around children yet, however with her energy and quick movements we believe a home with older kids with responsible parenting is best.

Behavior with other dogs:

We believe Peeps could live with a compatible male with good breed management after extremely slow introductions.

Behavior with other animals:

While we haven't seen Peeps with any cats or other animals she does seem to show some prey drive which makes us believe she would do best in a home with no cats.

Training:

Oh My Goodness is this girl Smart!! Peeps is a trainers dream dog to capture that wicked smart brain, which in turn wears her out, which then also makes for a Good Dog! Peeps is well versed in "sit", "down", "wait", "look" and is also doing well with redirection if she is around other dogs to "place" on her cot. Peeps is looking for someone who Wants to continue to expand her training and see just how far she can go with creative and or agility training!

Best Attribute:

Positive outlook on life. We want to say her love, but when you break it down she can only love that hard after all she's been through with her positivity! If you can't tell... We think she's pretty great ;)

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
