Background Info:
Maude’s story began in our program when her mom was brought in pregnant. Tragically, only three out of the nine puppies survived—but Maude was one of the strong ones who pulled through. In honor of their resilience, we gave each surviving pup a name that symbolizes strength in battle. Maude was adopted as a baby but recently came back to us after becoming overstimulated in her previous home. Not her fault, just not the right match. She’s now looking for a fresh start with someone who understands her joyful spirit and curious, working-dog brain.
COURTESY LISTING
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 12-18 mths
Weight: Growing
Best Attribute:
Maude’s face. It’s pure magic. People stop mid-walk just to compliment her, and her big, expressive eyes seem to say exactly what she’s thinking—even when she’s being just a little bit naughty. She’s a total character with a proud little prance, a flair for showing off her toys, and the kind of charm that makes you laugh even when she’s caught red-pawed. In the mornings, she gives you this sleepy-eyed glance—like she wants to open her eyes but just can’t quite commit—her version of “bed head” without the hair, but with the pillow marks. And when she’s fully awake? It’s full-on cartoon-mode. She bounds down the hallway with exaggerated zoomies, her butt tucked for max speed, and literally prances on her tippy toes like she’s so thrilled to be alive she just can’t contain it. Maude is pure brindle-coated joy, and every hop, leap, and side-eye smirk is a reminder of how special she truly is.
Health Condition:
Healthy and thriving in her foster home.
Physical Description:
Maude is a black-brown brindle beauty with tall, pointy ears and expressive almond-shaped eyes that make her look like she’s always up to something. Her facial expressions are legendary—equal parts sass, charm, and comedy.
Current Living Situation:
She’s in a foster home, where she’s potty trained and typically hangs out in a bedroom when left alone. She does great with structure, and benefits from a steady routine and regular exercise.
Personality:
Bubbly, goofy, and full of personality—Maude is the kind of girl who keeps you on your toes in the best way. She loves going for walks on a long lead and thrives with mental stimulation. She’s smart, playful, and always looking for the next adventure (or toy to show off).
Behavior with people:
She greets new people with confidence and loves to be the center of attention. Her favorite trick? Grabbing a toy and strutting around like she’s hosting her own game show.
Behavior with children:
Maude has been around kids, but she can get overstimulated. A home without children will be the best fit to help her stay calm and focused.
Behavior with other dogs:
Her big personality and fast pace can be a lot for some. We think she’d be an easier fit as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention, but we wouldn’t rule out a calm, compatible dog companion for the right match. Proper intros and management will be key, and we’re happy to help guide that process.
Behavior with other animals:
Not yet tested with cats or small animals.
Training:
Maude is incredibly smart and has already learned a ton—sit, down, on, off, wait, place, shake, chin (placing her chin on your hand), and touch. She’s food motivated and eager to learn, which makes training a fun bonding experience. She could thrive in agility or other dog sports. Just know—smart dogs are busy dogs!
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
