Marty

Marty is enthusiastic and always willing for a great adventure with his pals. However, he also has a complexity about his individuality, since he felt like he was no different from the other zebras (who literally are exactly like him). However, as Alex points out, Marty is a dreamer and a free spirit, which truly makes him stand out from other zebras.
Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Marty came in as a stray to the city shelter and was loved by everyone. We were asked to take this sweet boy to our program and never hesitated to say yes!
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Male
Age: 8-12 mths
Weight: 47 lbs & Growing
Health Condition:
Marty is in great condition and ready for adoption!
Physical Description:
What a striking thick and lustrous coat of a black and white brindle with silver streaks mixed in! He has a lean build to him with a long neck and a striking head with a Phantom of the Opera like mask. His white tipped paws draw your eyes to his adorable prance! He seems to be a medium build dog that isn't too bulky. Just an elegant young man!
Current Living Situation:
Marty has quickly settled into his shelter kennel and is keeping it tidy. He uses his dog door to go outside and do his business then comes back in and snuggles into his bunkbed. Marty has become a shelter volunteer favorite (aren't they all lol) with how kind and sweet he is.
Personality:
Marty Party is quite the gentleman, think the kinda guy at a cocktail party with the always attentive ear and opening the terrace door for you to get some fresh air... Those do exist, right? They do with Marty! He prefers to gently follow you around then play fetch when it is time for outdoor fun! Snuggle in and watch a movie after a picture perfect walk at sunset type of guy, gosh he is just the best!
Behavior with people:
This lovely boy is just the sweetest. He just wants to make us happy in life even if that means giving his human more time before its Marty time. Marty is always happy to see you but is also respectful of his humans and doesn't rush right up on them. We think he would benefit from a home that can give him ample time to mature and allow him to truly grow into the wonderful dog we already see in him.
Behavior with children:
We have no current knowledge of Marty with kids but believe he could possibly live with older children with proper adult supervision.
Behavior with other dogs:
While Marty is still young and has a lot of maturing to do still we do think he could live with a compatible female with proper slow introductions and training.
Behavior with other animals:
We have no current knowledge of him with cats or small animals and have not seen any large amount of prey drive so far but will update as soon as we do.
Training:
Marty is already showing he is really well adapted to sit and is quickly picking up down and place. This young lad will thrive in a home that continues his training and keeping him going on track to becoming an all around well behaved dog!
Best Attribute:
His striking looks! Wow, just wow! However, don't let that overshadow his amazing personality that will for sure change your life for the better!
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
