Blair

Winter Storm Blair was a major winter storm that brought heavy snow to the United States in January 2025.  It was the first coast-to-coast snowstorm of the year.

Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

During the worst of the storm in the middle of the night an elderly man woke to the sounds of a crying puppy outside his apartment window. He called animal control where they found a puppy locked in a crate just dropped off on the sidewalk covered in snow and freezing. Thanks to the gentleman and the animal control officer the sweet lil pup was saved and we couldn't say anything but yes when they reached out for her to come to our program!

Adoption Fee: $400
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 6-9 mths
Weight: 30+ lbs & Growing

Health Condition:

Blair has been really healthy since coming to her foster home. She's recovering well from her cherry eye repair surgery. The vets are really happy with how her eyes are healing! Blair had a little cold when she first came to her foster home but quickly recovered from that. She was also treated for demodex, a very common skin condition in puppies that cause small bald patches. Blair's bald spots have already stopped growing and are starting to filling back in. She will not have any long lasting effects from any of the minor health issues she's had! Overall she is healing well and ready for her forever home!

Physical Description:

Blair is a short but sturdy girl! Her robust and square like body makes up for her shorter appearance. She is still growing but she's currently a small dog. If there were an award for cutest underbite, Blair would win! She also has super expressive ears and the waggiest (is that a word, it is with Blair!) tail ever. Her black coat with the tips of brown on her eyebrows and muzzle just accentuate that happy smile and adorable head tilt! She's a happy lil lady and just loves everyone she meets!

Current Living Situation:

Blair was just sadly returned from what we thought was her perfect home :(. We are so sad for our sweet Blair who started life off on the wrong foot already. Blair has found herself in our shelter at only 7-9 months old as her previous foster home was filled already with another needy pup. She is loving all the extra love and attention of her shelter human volunteers and has immediately learned the dog door in her kennel to do her business outside and keep her kennel clean! We can't promise how she will do in a new home with a new routine, but so far she is doing well with not dirtying inside her kennel with access to outside whenever she needs it.

Personality:

Blair is truly a bright light! She is the sweetest and silliest girl! She is still a puppy can get rambunctious at times, but is easily corrected and she’s very eager to please. She has is wonderfully balanced between being playful and wanting to relax and snuggle up! Blair seems to have never met a stranger, she loves every person she meets and wants to be everyone’s bestie. After what she’s been through, it’s pretty incredible to see how trusting and loving this little short-stack is. Blair loves to go for car rides, she was a dream at her vet appointment, and has charmed all the MPR volunteers that she’s met! She loves to play play play with her foster brother dog and desperately wants to be friends with the cat in her foster home. She knows how to sit and lay down and is working on a few more commands. Blair is smart and very food motivated so it’s really fun to work with her on learning new things!

Behavior with people:

Blair loves people! She’s met quite a few adults and thinks every single person is her BFF. And she’s not wrong. She’s still a puppy so she’s working on not getting overly excited to see new people, but she’s making really good progress. She seems to like women and men alike, and loves human attention!

Behavior with children:

Blair was recently living in a home with teenagers and did well.

Her previous foster mom thinks she would be very excited to meet children, but being a puppy she may be too rambunctious and strong for smaller children. We believe that she may be able to live with older children in her forever home.

Behavior with other dogs:

Blair has been getting along with her 10 year old foster brother dog - loves to play with him, really likes following him around and being his shadow. Her foster brother is a little picky with which dogs he likes, and Blair has completely won him over. She has a lot of social awareness with her play, she approaches slowly and bows to the older dog, preferring to be submissive when she first meets a new dog. With slow and intentional introductions, we believe that Blair could live with a compatible male dog in her forever home.

Behavior with other animals:

Blair is super interested in the cat that lives at her foster home but learned quickly not to chase her. They are often in the same room and while she would like to be BFFs with the cat, the cat has other ideas. Blair has been respectful of the boundaries set by the cat. She has not shown signs of a high prey drive. Blair will occasionally chase a squirrel or a bird in the yard. She’s more interested in playing with the other dog, trying to get the neighbors to come pet her and finding the best sticks to parade around with.

Training:

Blair knows the commands for “sit” and “lay down”. She’s working on a few more commands too! She is very food motivated and easy and fun to work with. Overall her personality is eager to please, she’s occasionally a little stubborn but in a normal puppy way. Blair is wonderful in her kennel and stays in it overnight as well as when she’s home alone. She occasionally whines when she goes in the kennel but settles quickly. She loves a kong or another busy toy when she goes into the kennel. Blair is still learning leash manners but shows a lot of promise, her foster mom thinks that it will get even better as the weather warms up and they can go for more walks. Blair is working on perfecting potty training! She has the occasional accident in the house but it’s usually because her potty cue was missed. She prefers to go outside and is getting really good at holding it and asking to go out. She's a smart gal and quick learner! She will do well with continued training in her forever home.

Best Attribute:

It’s hard to pick a best trait for Blair because she has such a fabulous personality. She is one of the most loving and cuddly dogs ever. Blair loves to be snuggled up with her people on the couch and prefers to be under the blankets whenever possible! She’s also a little clown, making her foster mom laugh so much throughout each day. When she is confused or trying to figure something out, Blair tilts her head very dramatically and it’s the cutest thing. She’s very inquisitive and likes to follow everyone around and check out what they’re doing. Blair, despite what she went through before she was rescued, is a little love bug who is super trusting, silly and will be a great companion for her forever family.
