Applejack

A character in "My little Pony". AJ is described as honest, hard-working, and determined. Down-to-earth and responsible, Applejack is a country pony at heart, not caring much for complicated etiquette or frilly clothes.

Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Applejack was brought into the MPR program from the city shelter. His story before he landed there is unknown. He was very underweight when he arrived at MPR but he's doing so well under our care!

Adoption Fee: $135.00
Breed: Boxer/AmBull mix
Sex: Male
Age: 5+ yrs
Weight: 65-75 lbs

Health Condition:

Applejack is healthy and ready to stroll into your life!

Physical Description:

Applejack is a tall, slender guy with striking blue eyes. His facial expression often conveys a serious and reserved demeanor, or as one volunteer described "resting dog face!" He has a playful, coy look about him when he wants you to come cuddle with him! His expressive face and beautiful brown and white coat make him a standout!

Current Living Situation:

IApplejack is currently living at the MPR shelter. He is extremely well behaved, docile, and keeps his kennel clean. He is usually ready for his turn out since he knows that means he gets to lounge in the playroom, lay out in the sunshine, and give you those puppy dog eyes for belly rubs!

Personality:

AJ, as we sometimes call him, is one of the most relaxed dogs we've had at MPR. He's super chill and just goes with the flow! He absolutely loves sunbathing and going for walks, and he is a pro on the leash! He also adores car rides and is a great passenger! Applejack is a huge cuddler and wants to spend his time next to you. He is so easy going and easy to please his humans. He is the ultimate lover boy!

Behavior with people:

Applejack loves meeting new people! He's incredibly well-behaved and enjoys soaking up all of the attention, and then he's ready to go back to napping.

Behavior with children:

Applejack's behavior around children is unknown at this time. A home with older children may be suitable for him.

Behavior with other dogs:

Unknown. While we can not guarantee his behavior with other dogs, at this time we believe Applejack may be able to live with a compatible female with gradual and structured introductions and guidance from breed-knowledgeable owners.

Behavior with other animals:

It is currently unknown how AJ is with other animals or what level of prey drive he may have, or could have in the future. He does very well on walks along the trail near the shelter. Based on this behavior, it's possible that he has a low to mild prey drive.

Training:

Our Applejack has been successful in adapting to life at the shelter. He quickly conquered the doggie door. Volunteers work with him everyday to master commands like Sit, Wait, Down, Leave it, Place, and Free. He is food motivated and eager to please, which makes training easy and fun! He'll thrive with continued training in his forever home.

Best Attribute:

Applejack is a seriously relaxed dude that just wants to hang out with his humans. Popcorn and a movie while snuggling on the couch sounds like the perfect Friday night for our sweet AJ. He has so much love to give and wants to find his new best friend!

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
