Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Ananke was found extremely emaciated and brought into the city shelter. In her emaciated state when she showed signs of kennel cough she quickly deteriorated. Unfortunately, we lost her spot due to a return. Weeks went by and we had an opening and Ananke was still available! Healthy and stunning!
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 3-5 yrs
Weight: 45-50 lbs
Health Condition:
As you read above Ananke was originally in very dire condition. She gained 10 Pounds from when she came into the city shelter till when she came to us! 10 Pounds is like 20 to in human pounds to a dog! Kennel cough nearly took her from us as she was already so emaciated then coughing made her vomit up her food, But she pulled through and we had a spot open up so we quickly grabbed her and she was in beautiful shape! Ananke, the Goddess of destined (for MPR), is healthy and ready for adoption!
Physical Description:
Chiseled, sculptured, elegant are just some of the words that describe this beauty! Ananke has a medium athletic build with the most beautiful square but soft head. While, yes, her ears are cropped so intensely short her endearing seal round eyes draw you in and capture your soul. She has a dusty grey, brown brindle body with white tipped toes and a stripe down her chest. That soulful face has a soft black mask on her muzzle that is always smiling ;)
Current Living Situation:
Ananke is currently at our quaint little shelter where she keeps her two bunk beds as neat and tidy as we have ever seen. She uses her dog door to use the bathroom and sits rather quietly while waiting her turn to have her rotations in the play yard.
Personality:
This spunky gal can go from zero to zoomie and back to cuddle level zero in a split 60 seconds lol! She loves to lean in for a good neck snuggle and melt your heart. Ananke would benefit from a home with strong leadership that can also give lots of praise and reward. Ana hopes to also have an active home as she is a great athlete now that she's all healthy!
Behavior with people:
Ana seems to be loving all her volunteers and quickly becoming a shelter favorite! She can get a little exuberant sometimes when saying her hellos, but is quick to listen to her sit command and waiting for her pets.
Behavior with children:
We have no knowledge of history around kids but think she would do best around older kids with good guidance on how to interact with dogs.
Behavior with other dogs:
Ananke could live with compatible male with proper breed educated parents.
Behavior with other animals:
We have no knowledge of Ananke with any other animals at this time.
Training:
So quick to learn! She is a sponge and loves to be taught. Craving that strong leadership Ananke is quick to give her devotion to her next best Hooman!
Best Attribute:
While she truly is a whole package it is Those Eyes!! Those deep dark beautiful eyes are truly something to only experience in person. If you are lucky enough to be her people she will not disappoint, come adopt Ananke before she's gone!
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donatng for their care.
