Veronica

Aquarelle icon.jpg
The veronica flower is a popular summer wedding flower, which may have to do with its symbolism and meaning. This flower signifies fidelity and love, perfect for such a setting for even as a surprise gift for that special someone.

Background Info:

Veronica was found as a stray in the company of a similar female we named "Betty." They were taken to the city pound but never claimed. We were quite surprised to see them abandoned as both of them appeared to be outstanding breed representatives, inside and out. We suspect they were used for breeding. Note that Betty has since been adopted to a loving home.

Health Condition:

Other than a broken tooth that will be extracted shortly, Veronica is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready for adoption.

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for her care.

Physical Description:

This dog is a remarkable breed specimen and we still cant believe her previous family didn't come looking for her. She seems to come from a quality bloodline, although we will never know her real background since she was a stray. What we do know is that she is absolutely gorgeous. Super muscular, well-defined, very stocky, and perfectly proportioned. Her pictures don't do her justice at all. Her coat is deep blue and she has the cutest blue freckles on her face. She has amazing ember colored eyes and her ears were thankfully left intact. The dog is stunning and we urge her next family to be very protective of her as she could be a target for people with bad intentions due to her looks.

Living Situation:

Veronica is appreciating her good luck at MPR's shelter. She's being a great guest and she is no trouble at all. One of the easiest dogs we have at the shelter right now. She keeps her kennel clean, doesn't destroy her bedding, doesn't bark or seem anxious or agitated. She just chills in there until it's her turn to be out with the volunteers.

Personality:

She's as perfect on the inside as she is on the outside. Ronnie has a wonderful disposition and great nature.

Veronica's level of energy is medium-low. She absolutely loves doing a few rounds of zoomies in the large yard but is quickly done and ready to chill inside. She is affectionate, even a little needy, but very polite.

She's somewhat playful but more interested in just relaxing and watching butterflies go by. She is well adjusted and well-balanced. This dog is a gem!

Behavior with people:

Slightly timid upon first meeting but a real sweetheart. She's the type that goes from one person to another and lovingly sits at their feet to introduce herself and get loved-on. She's very affectionate and looooves to cuddle. She will gaze in your eyes softly, and you wont be able to resist her sweet face.

Once she is comfortable, Veronica shows her comical side. Yes, there is a happy little clown in there who likes to goof around too. She's such an endearing dog all-around.

Behavior with children:

Unknown but she has all the qualities of a great family companion, provided the kids are gentle and respectful. She is a little sensitive and we don't want to see her placed in a home with rambunctious kids who could overwhelm her.

Please keep in mind that although short-lived, her zoomies can be a little intense. She could inadvertently knock over a small child who stood in her way.

Behavior with other dogs:

She did OK with the female she came in with, but didn't seem overly attached to her. Veronica briefly met other dogs while at the city pound but she wasn't too thrilled with them. She much prefers the company of people. Ronnie showed dominant behaviors toward other females she was not well-acquainted with and seemed indifferent (even slightly annoyed) with most dogs in general. She would just walk away from them and seek people's attention instead. While we wont rule out a home with a compatible male for her, she would love being the only 4-legged princess in the home.

Behavior with other animals:

We have seen her chase a rabbit in the yard and she remained on high alert for several minutes afterward. We suspect a good prey-drive. Veronica will need a home with a secured fenced yard or to never be allowed off-leash.

Training:

She doesn't have a lot of training that we know of, but she is naturally easy and well behaved. She keeps her kennel clean and uses the doggy-door to go in the outside run if needed. She has not been destructive of her bedding.

Best Attribute:

Veronica's beauty runs deep. This truly is an outstanding dogs and we really don't think she will be with us very long. She will make her new family very proud and happy.
