Background Info:

Poor little thing was dropped off as a stray by a member of the public, weighing only 25 lbs. She was nothing but skin and bones. We dont know what happened to her, but it must have been pretty bad. We weren't sure what to expect in terms of recovery but she's proven to be as resilient as she is pretty.

Health Condition:

She was a wreck and emaciated when rescued, but has blossomed into a healthy princess. She is still gaining weight but looks a thousand times better already. Other than being still a little underweight, she is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

Very unique smokey gold color, She is soooo pretty! Small and delicate build but still growing. Cropped ears, gold eyes with a cute pouty underbite. She's a doll! You have to meet her in person to realize just how adorable she looks. She sure is a beauty!

Living Situation:

Swissmiss is fostered in a home with adults and a large, older Shepherd mix. Her foster doggy companion is calm and used to visiting dogs and is helping Swissmiss get acquainted to home life.
There's a medium size yard in her foster home with a tall privacy fence. Swissmiss is crated when home alone and at night.

Personality:

Swissmiss is a sweet little girl! She can be playful and active but usually has moderate energy and prefers a nice rest after her walk. She loves car rides and sits nicely in the back seat. She loves cuddles but is also happy to play by herself with toys. She enjoys the company of her foster doggy brother and would love to hang out with kids.

Behavior with people:

Friendly and loving, though she needs a couple of minutes to warm up to strangers. Nothing worrisome or inappropriate. She was clearly mistreated before her rescue, so its no surprise she is seeking reassurance before opening up. She very much wants human friends and is quickly relieved when she realizes she has made a new buddy. She's overall very people-oriented. Just needs a minute or two to make sure you are on her side.

Behavior with children:

No reason to believe she would not be a great family companion, other than she is a little sensitive. For her sake, we prefer a home with adults or well-behaved kids that are gentle and respectful.

Behavior with other dogs:

While at the city pound, Swissmiss was introduced to other dogs and we were told she was tolerant during playgroups and had appropriate greetings. She is still young and we think she could adapt well in a home with a compatible male. She is currently fostered with a male Shepherd mix and respects his ways. That said, Swissmiss doesn't necessarily seek the company of an other dog and would do well in a home as an only pet too.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown, although we know she has a mild prey drive towards birds.

Training:

She has some training and knows how to sit and can catch a treat. She is good on leash and doesn’t pull or weave.

Best Attribute:

Swissmiss had a terrible upbringing. She was a walking skeleton when rescued, dejected and in terrible shape. Yet, she is nothing but a sweet, loving girl who longs to be a family companion. Swissmiss is eager to please and a quick study. All she needs is someone willing to give her a chance. We have a good feeling she wont have to wait too long because she truly is a wonderful little princess, inside and out.
