Suki
The meaning of "Suki" in Japanese is "fondness", "Love".
Background Info:
Suki was found as a stray and never claimed. She obviously had lots puppies in her life and might have become too old to breed, and therefore useless to her owners. As they say, "one man's junk is another man's treasure," because this little dog is a pure gem.
Adoption Fee: $ 100
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 7 + (Senior)
Weight: 38-48 lbs
Health Condition:
Suki is a senior dog but she is healthy and ready for adoption. She should have many more happy years ahead of her.
Physical Description:
On the small side, Suki is a dainty, blue female with a little white on her face and paws. Sadly, the skin under Suki's belly was stretched by multiple litters. While the sag will tighten-up some now that she has been spayed, she will probably always look like she had puppies. Well, she did have puppies and it wasn't her fault someone overbred her. We can only hope that her appearance will not be a reason for someone not to give her a chance. God only knows she deserves a good life now. After all, she did all the hard work. All she wants now, is her chance to be loved and pampered.
Current Living Situation:
Suki is fostered in a suburban home with two adults and a senior German Shepherd-type dog. There are no children in the home. The yard is medium-size with a 6' privacy fence. Suki is kept in a crate at night and when her foster mom is at work. We are told that Suki is well behaved, has good house manners, and is no trouble at all.
Personality:
Foster mom describes her as a sweet loving girl, with a zest for life despite her age. She is outgoing, frisky and loves to have fun. She's also a wonderful snuggler with the deepest, most loving gaze. Foster mom depicts Suki as a well-balanced dog with an even level of energy and a positive disposition.
Behavior with people:
Friendly but slightly timid upon initial meeting. She warms up quickly. She seems to have no favorite when it comes to men or women. She is responsive and eager-to-please.
Behavior with children:
Suki has only met very young kids briefly and was a little unsure around them. It's possible she was exposed to overbearing children before and she needs a moment to figure out if she will be treated respectfully. For her sake, we prefer a home with older, gentle kids for Suki, or adults only.
Behavior with other dogs:
After a couple weeks of slow introductions, parallel walks and crate rotates, she does very well with the large, older, calm and somewhat grumpy Shepherd dog in her foster home. The two are always supervised and kept separately when no one is home.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown with cats, but has a prey drive when it comes to squirrels outside.
Training:
Suki is learning basic commands and doing well. She is crate-trained and eager to please.
Additional Info:
Overall this little old lady is an easy dog with low requirements. She could do well in a quiet home or apartment, with someone looking for a no nonsense companion with an affectionate nature and happy spirit.
