Background Info:



Stromboli was found as a stray and taken to the local pound by Animal control. We have no information regarding his background and upbringing.

Health Condition:

Stromboli is heartworm positive and has begun treatment. He should be fully recovered by the end of winter. Stromboli can be adopted by a local family if they have the ability to keep him calm until the end of his treatment (about 3 months). There are no cost to the adopters other than a heartworm test following completion of the treatment.

Other than the heartworm disease, Stromboli appears healthy. Because we do not have any information regarding his breeding background however, we cannot guarantee the he did not inherit some of the health conditions associated with Bulldog breeds (i.e.: Allergies, hip issues, heart problems. etc). Please talk to your vet or do some research before welcoming a Bulldog type into your life.

Physical Description:

Though we have no pedigree to confirm, we believe Stromboli could be an OLDE Bulldogge. A breed newly developed (in the 70's) with the goal of recreating the original Bulldog, but with better agility, mobility, breathing and less health issues.

Stromboli is medium size, though quite stocky and bulky. He has a huge head with the cutest face and expressions.



Current Living Situation:

Stromboli is temporarily staying with a single dad in a home with a cat but no other dogs until we have room for him at the shelter. More info coming soon.



Personality:

Confident and outgoing clown who's always in a good mood and ready for a good time. Stromboli has a chill temperament with occasional short bouts of energy.

Behavior with people:

Super outgoing! He knows no strangers and is always happy and fun-loving, Stromboli loves being in the middle of everything with everyone.



Behavior with children:

He seems rather comfortable with kids and enjoys their company but Stromboli doesn't always recognize his strength. He can be a bit of a bulldozer at times and therefore we do not recommend a home with toddlers or frail/sensitive kids. He would most likely thrive in a home with teenagers but might resource guard when it comes to toys and food.



Behavior with other dogs:

Stromboli was briefly introduced to other dogs during his short stay at the pound and described by the staff as 'dog-social".

Behavior with other animals:

Stromboli lives with a cat right now and is good with the kitty.

Training:

We're guessing that he might have been an inside companion before and has decent house manners and knows basic commands.

Additional Info:

This wonderful dog has a lot of amazing attributes inside and out. We don't expect him to be with us very long so don't wait too long to apply. The most important to us is that he finds a home that deserves him and promise to treat him with love and good care because he's one in a million!
