Background Info:

Would you believe this comical little clown was dropped off at the city pound after being apparently found as a stray and never claimed? We are dumbfounded that someone would leave such a great little dog behind but that's exactly what happened to this sweetheart.

Adoption Fee: $ 200
Breed: Pit Bull/Bull Terrier
Sex: Male
Age: 1-2
Weight: 45-55 lbs
Health Condition:

Spuds is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

Spuds is most likely a Bull Terrier mix. He is black and white with the cutest pointy elf ears. He is short in stature but stocky and big boned. He has a longer body with stubby legs and very endearing ‘puppy dog’ eyes. So adorable! He also sports an elongated snout like the Bull Terrier.

Current Living Situation:

Spuds is fostered in an apartment with two adults and a young male Dachshund.

He is being a wonderful houseguest. Spuds appears potty-trained and alerts his foster mom by going to the door when he needs to go to the bathroom.

He does not have access to a fenced yard, so he goes on multiple walks a day and he is a dream on the leash! A+ for loose leash walking.

Personality:

Spuds is quite comical (more about his interactions with people while out and about below)! He is outgoing and easy to handle. Foster mom says he’s so chill and relaxed – the perfect pup to take a nap with!

Spuds can entertain himself with chew toys and he can also mirror your emotions. If you show him that you’re excited and happy, he is right there with you! He has a few insecurities about stairs and thinks trash cans are scary, but he is gaining confidence every day.

Spuds does great when in the car once he is situated but needs a little encouragement getting in. A great dog with some quirks.

Behavior with people:

Spuds is a socialite. Think of him as the town mayor running for re-election. He wants to say "hello" to everyone when he’s on walks. He doesn’t pull towards them, but he will double check behind anyone to make sure they are still there for a possible greeting. He will always be a source of smiles and laughter.

Behavior with children:

Unknown.

Behavior with other dogs:

Foster mom is currently doing a slow introduction with the other dog in home and Spuds has not displayed any problematic behaviors. He could possibly live with a compatible dog. When on a leash, he can walk by other dogs without any issue.

Behavior with other animals:

:Spuds has a high prey drive when it comes to rabbits and squirrels. He pulls toward them during walks, so we recommend he is harnessed with a leash. He shows interest in cats and can’t keep his eyes off them, so a home without cats or small animals is recommended.

Training:

Crate training is in progress. Spuds is usually crated when home alone but has also been left out loose in the apartment with no issues. His foster mom has a camera and monitors him during the day. He sleeps loose in the house at night.

Foster mom is teaching him basic commands. He is very eager to please and happy to learn.

Get this – Spuds doesn’t seem to know what human food is and doesn’t show much interest in it. When foster mom is cooking or eating, Spuds will hang around but has not begged once! That said, he is treat motivated when it comes to learning tricks and commands.

Best Attribute:

Irresistible inside and out. He's cute as can be and adorably funny-looking. And the personality fits the outfit!
