Physical Description:
A stunning tri-colored low-rider, with the cutest little gallop when she runs with those mini legs! Rutabaga also has a very animated face! She has big ole head with comical pointy ears that stick straight up!
Current Living Situation:
Rutabaga lives in a foster home with two adults and one four-legged foster brother – a 4-year-old, male Staffy. She has been a great guest so far without causing any trouble. Rutabaga is crate trained and that’s where she stays when home alone and overnight. It’s her safe space and often goes inside on her own. Rutabaga hasn’t had any accidents in the home, and she has access to a medium-sized backyard with 6ft privacy fence.
This princess has her own bedroom and loves her supervised time on the front porch where she can sunbathe and keep an eye on the neighborhood. She gets daily walks around the neighborhood.
Personality:
She’s a happy dog who is very easy-going with a medium level of energy. Rutabaga loves to play and would do it for hours if you’d let her. She often initiates play with her foster brother (which he loves). But she also enjoys her downtime and getting to be a couch potato, especially if she can snuggle up with her favorite toy lobster 🦞. She is gentle with toys and likes to keep them intact as long as she can.
Behavior with people:
Rutabaga has never met a stranger! She has no preference with males or females – she wants to meet everyone! She can get excited when greeting new people but is mostly well behaved.
Behavior with children:
Unknown.
Behavior with other dogs:
With proper introductions, Rutabaga was very polite and appropriate in meeting her foster brother. She is good at picking up queues from him. Rutabaga has a little bit of a dominant play style, but when he is done playing, she follows his lead and stops to take a break. She could possibly live with a compatible male, but she would also love to be the center of attention in her furever home.
Behavior with other animals:
Rutabaga has seen squirrels and cats on walks. She is curious but does not lunge or pull hard to get to them. We don’t know how she would behave if enclosed with any small animals. She has not been cat tested.
Training:
She appears housebroken and if she needs to go outside, she lets her people know with a little bark. Foster mom says she listens to directions well and seems to know basic commands. She’s a food-motivated girlie.
Rutabaga does great on walks, staying right next to her people when she’s by herself. If she’s walking with her foster brother though, she can get excited and pull on her leash a little bit. Her legs are a little bit shorter and she wants to keep up on their adventure 😊
Best Attribute:
She is such a people lover! Rutabaga knows no stranger and wants nothing more than to lay on your lap for pets and cuddles. She would be a great companion for someone who is social and would let her tag along!
