Background Info:



Panzer Tank landed at the city pound after he was found as a stray and surprisingly never claimed. We are baffled that a striking dog like him was left behind, but we think he's pretty lucky to be in our program now. We have no previous history or background information regarding this hunky boy.

Health Condition:

Panzer has some minor skin issues, probably triggered by stress and poor care. Panzer might be a candidate for allergy management and/or special diet throughout his life. ​

Physical Description:

This boy is definitely a head-turner. He's very thick, big-boned and has a massive head. We believe he might be a mix of Pit Bull, Bulldog and Mastiff type dogs. He is quite stockier than an APBT or even an Amstaff, though a little smaller than a Bull Mastiff, but not by much.



Current Living Situation:

Panzer is fostered in a home with adults only, along with 5 other dogs of all ages and sizes. There is a large fenced yard in his foster home and the yard next to it has chickens and ducks. Panzer is currently kept separate from all other animals.

Panzer is kept in a crate when home alone but sleeps loose in the living room on a large dog bed. Though he seems housebroken for the most part, he has marked in the house a few times. This might be due with sharing a home with two other males. There is a doggy-door in his foster home and he lets himself out when he needs to do his business.

Personality:

Panzer is laid-back but a fun-loving goofball at the same time. His energy is low to moderate but he has hysterical bouts of zoomies a few times a day. He's still young and sometimes acts like an overgrown puppy. He can be goofy and funny and it's hard to keep a straight face when he's around. A "bull in a china shop" describes him to a tee.

Behavior with people:

Very loving and friendly with his loved ones, but timid and reserved with strangers, even a little standoffish. He seems to take after the Bull Mastiff when it comes to his interaction with people. He's not exactly a social-butterfly and he needs time to warm up to people he doesn't know well. He could be protective as he matures, and a dog of this caliber will require very responsible ownership.



Behavior with children:

As mentioned above, Panzer is the type of dog that will adore and worship his family but might not be the friendliest with visitors. This could pose a problem if children have friends over. He's also big and clumsy and occasionally jumps up on people.



Behavior with other dogs:

While Panzer is still kept separate from the large dogs in his foster home, he was introduced to a small Corgi/Chihuahua female and does very well with her. She is older and grumpy, and he respects her at top queen despite her small size.



The other 4 dogs, Bully breeds like him, aren't very welcoming so introductions have been very slow-going. In addition, Panzer has shown signs of resource guarding toys.



As of now, we believe Panzer would be most successful as an only pet. This could change in time and we will update his bio if needed. Please, keep in mind that with his beefy head and serious expression his appearance is intimidating. This could be threatening or challenging to other dogs and trigger a negative reaction. Introductions must be diligent. Since Panzer is super strong too, supervision and trigger management will be a must if he shares a home with other pets.



Behavior with other animals:

Unknown with cats. He's definitely interested in the chickens and ducks next door and would probably chase them if given the opportunity. A home as an only pet is recommended.

Training:

Panzer does well in a large and sturdy crate and goes in willingly with a treat incentive. He is usually quiet in the crate unless the other dogs are excited in the room where he's at and he would like to be part of the action.

Panzer has frequent access to the yard and seems housebroken. He might mark at first, but it doesn't appear to be a problematic habit.



Panzer can be a little bull-headed but he's not overly stubborn. He just needs to learn basic training and how to be a well-behaved companion. He's getting there!

Best Attributes:

He's hilarious! He'll do short-lived but hysterical zoomies on the bed if you let him... Then roll on his back in a wiggle-fest until falling off head first.. Then come come right back on for more silliness. He is such a goof!!! Snoozing time quickly follows zoomies time. He puts as much heart into his naps as he does in his butt-runs.
