Background Info:

We don't know the exact details of the sad life Padme left behind, but we can only imagine what a nightmare it was. She arrived at the city pound as a stray, covered in wounds, extremely malnourished, and coated in urine stains. Yet, she was the sweetest little angel. The staff put a plea out for her transfer to our program and upon meeting her, we knew right away that she was very deserving of this precious chance to turn her life around.

Adoption Fee: $100
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 yo
Weight: 45-55 lbs
Health Condition:

Padme has gained much needed weight. We treated parasites, dermatitis, and an eye infection and she is now back on her feet. She does have seasonal allergies that occasionally affect her eyes, skin, and nose. We treat with Benadryl as needed. She could become a candidate for Apoquel in the future but as of now, allergies are not causing her bad bad flare-ups or reactions.

Physical Description:

Petite and adorable. Padme is on the small side with a delicate, yet solid build. Her coat was stained yellow when she arrived, but has blossomed into shinny white fur. She has the cutest little face with a loving expression that is impossible to ignore. She sometimes looks sad on her pictures but in reality this girl is happy and full of love. She has big eyes that look at you with appreciation and kindness.

Current Living Situation:

Padme did well at MPR shelter and was obviously thrilled by that new turn of events in her life. A wonderful guest who caused absolutely no trouble at all. Great in her kennel, quiet, and non-destructive. She kept her little bed neat and tidy, and enjoyed laying on her top bunk.

After a few weeks at the shelter, she was selected by one of our volunteers to be her first foster with us.

Padme has now been in her foster home since mid-August. Foster mom chose her because she was her favorite at the shelter and so easy to love and to handle. She has been sending us precious updates and couldn't be any happier about her choice. Padme is thriving in foster care and proving to be a real little angle.

Update from foster mom: "Padme is a wonderful dog. All she wants is to cuddle and bury her nose in you. When outside on the leash, she is obedient and listens extremely well. When she sees another dog she will want to meet it but will listen once directed. She might get a little anxious on long car rides but loves short ones. Padme sleeps on the couch in our home. During the day Padme will be loose when we are home, but when we go for an outing, she stays in her own little room. She is not destructive and is extremely quiet. Padme would do well in just about any living situation as she adapts very well. She would prefer a family that would take her on walks every day and gives her all of the love she deserves. She would thrive in a home where someone works from home or is gone for a couple of hours a day. She does not have separation anxiety, and does not bark at all."

Personality:

Padme has been described as a "little angel on earth" by our volunteers. Timid and unsure at first, but desperately eager to make friends. She has a submissive personality, but a super fun-loving nature when she is comfortable. Her energy level is medium and pleasant. She is eager to please and very responsive. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch this poor little scared dog open up to the good life. She is soooo relieved.

Update from foster mom: "Padme's behavior is very appropriate for the time of day. She knows to be grateful to go on a walk. She does not jump when anyone approaches her but instead wags her tail enthusiastically. She might have her moments of the zoomies but very rare inside the home."

Behavior with people:

Padme is such a little sweetheart. As mentioned above, she can be submissive at first, but she warms up as soon as she realizes someone doesn't have bad intentions towards her. From then on, the love-fest is on! In fact, Padme is so happy to be with caring people that her whole body wags with her tail when she greets her loved-ones. She enjoys being loved on with all her little heart and is very affectionate in return.

Update from foster mom: "Padme is absolutely wonderful when it comes to meeting new people. When going on a walk and she sees a new friend she would love to meet them and wags her tail till they pet her. It's super cute! Padme definitely does not discriminate at all."

Behavior with children:

She hasn't been with kids often since being in our program, but she's a total sweetheart with adults - delicate and gentle. She is also docile, but can be timid. While we believe a home with respectful children is an option for this little princess, we prefer older kids due to her sensitive nature.

Update from foster mom: "Padme does not currently live with kids but has met them when going on walks. She does wonderful and is super gentle and kind. She understands that they are children and how to be calm."

Behavior with other dogs:

Padme is conflicted and selective when it comes to other dogs. She was introduced to a group of dogs at the city shelter and while happy and playful at first, she quickly became overwhelmed and offensive. She is absolutely not a candidate for dog-parks or doggy-day care. She could perhaps share a home with a compatible male who'd let her be a princess, but we believe she would be more successful as an only pet. She definitely prefers the company of people anyway.

Behavior with other animals:

Padme has a low prey drive. Of course, when she sees a squirrel or rabbit she's very interested and might lunge towards it but is very easily corrected. That said, a home with cats is not recommended.

Training:

She's learning the basics while being with us. She is smart and loves to please. Padme loves learning to tricks and being praised. She is extremely eager to please and docile. Padme understand basic tricks like, sitting, laying down, touching her nose to your hand, and is currently learning more.

Additional Info:

Life was hard before her rescue, and basic resources were not always available. As a result, this silly girl thinks she should burry her toys in case she never gets one again. While the behavior is cute and silly, it is also a reminder of Padme's tragic past. This sweetie had never known a gentle touch before, a comfy bed, or had been given a toy, She was never told what a good girl she is, or taken to a drive-through for a Pup Cup. She has now been given this incredible chance to find a caring family and hasn't missed a chance to show us her gratitude.

Padme is indeed all over a perfect dog according to her foster family. But her best trait is her happy tail. As soon as you look at her she will wag her whole body in excitement. She is so hard not to instantly fall in love with due to her loving personality. She is also very quiet which is wonderful! Padme is such a fantastic pet overall. She would absolutely show you every day how grateful she is for all of the love she receives. She would be great in any home with any person or family. If you are looking for a little petite, respectful, loving pittie, she is the one for you!
