Background Info:

Muenster was surrendered to the city pound by an owner who claimed an acquaintance injured the dog and they could not afford medical care. Muenster had an injury consistent with physical abuse, which was immediately treated and has since healed well. The dog was then quickly moved into our program to assure his safety and make sure he would never fall in cruel hands again.

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit/AmBull mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 yo
Weight: 65-75 Lbs
Health Condition:

While Muenster has completely recuperated from the abuse he was subjected to this summer, he unfortunately tested positive for heartworm disease.

In late December, Muenster completed his treatment. He is officially cleared for all activities and is ready to enjoy life to the fullest.

Physical Description:

The happy face reflects this dog's fun-loving personality so well . He constantly has an endearing smile in his eyes and love bursts out of his darling expressions. Muenster is medium size, well proportioned, and blessed with the cutest smoosh face there is. There might be a bit of Boxer in his background.

Current Living Situation:

Muenster is being a gracious guest at MPR shelter and he's a huge hit with the volunteers. He is so good, easy, and well behaved that we can't wait to spend time with him. The dog is absolutely no trouble at all and we never hear any complaints from the caretakers about this Casanova. Volunteers cherish their time with him and he's just as thrilled to be with everyone he meets.

Muenster has quickly learned to use his doggy door and go in his outside run if he needs to do his business. He doesn't seem to be a chewer or a barker. He waits patiently in his kennel for his time out, and doesn't participate in the occasional shelter ruckus caused by the other dogs.

Personality:

We can't begin to explain how much we love this tender-hearted guy. He is sooooo good, so loving, so friendly, and so eager to please! He has many of the best qualities desired in the breed, such as affectionate, people-loving, and super easy-going. How someone could abuse such a sweetheart is beyond incomprehensible.

Muenster is just about as easy-going as they come. Far from being hyper or a spaz, though he definitely enjoys a good bout of zoomies when in the yard. He is overall very chill and loves nothing more than long cuddle sessions on the couch.

Muenster likes to know he makes his loved-ones happy, and is very receptive and appreciative of praises. He's an easy dog who does his very best to be a good boy and receive positive interactions in exchange.

Behavior with people:

Muenster adores all humans. He might have actually been a little naïve in the past by trusting the wrong ones. His bad experience did not deter him whatsoever though. He is just as eager to make friends, to love, and be loved.

We will do everything in our power to assure his next family will treat him with the love and respect all dogs should receive. God only knows he deserves it.

Behavior with children:

Muenster needs a home with adults only. He can quickly get riled up and can become too intense for kiddos. Additionally, due to the abuse he suffered before his rescue, this sweet teddy bear needs a safe place with mature handling.

Behavior with other dogs:

Muenster hasn't been introduced to other dogs since being in our program. He briefly met a few dogs at the city pound and seemed a little overwhelmed. Perhaps in a calmer environment and with the right approach he could share a home with a compatible female. The right candidate should be friendly, welcoming, and easy-going. We do believe this charming boy would love to be the only spoiled 4-legged child in a home though, and get all the attention for himself.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown. Muenster Cheese is not exhibiting signs of a strong prey-drive towards squirrels in the yard at the shelter, but we don't know what he would do in a home with cats. We will not rule out a trial in a home with a kitty or two, provided that the owners understand the risks and are prepared for diligent introductions and supervision.
