Background Info:

Mint Julep found herself in a bad predicament while trying to protect her puppy, when the two found themselves homeless. MJ defended her against another dog and that landed her in jail at the city pound. We rescued the puppy immediately, and Minty as soon as her time was up. Her pup has since been adopted. Hopefully her brave mom won't have to wait too long.

Adoption Fee: $200
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 yrs
Weight: 55-65 lbs
Color: Red & White

Health Condition:

Mint Julep is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

She's too cute! MJ has an adorable blocky head and irresistible freckled face. Nice size, great coat, and well proportioned. The skin under her belly is sagging a little, from having nursed a litter recently, but will tighten in the coming months now that she has been spayed. Please don't let this be a deterrent. She didn't ask to be bred but did a tremendous job as a loving mom, nonetheless.

Living Situation:

MJ is being a very well-behaved guest at MPR shelter. She is doing awesome in her kennel and causes no trouble at all. She was a little unsure about the presence of other dogs at close proximity at first but got over it quickly. She's a trouper and very easy to please.

Minty loves to lounge on her doggy-bed in her outside run, when the weather is nice. While she handles shelter life as best as anyone would hope, she does crave human companionship. She cheers up as soon as she is out with a volunteer. This cutie pie is very people-oriented. She's a big-time volunteer's favorite because she is so easy, well-behaved and loving.

Personality:

MJ has such a bright spirit. She's easy-going, super friendly and incredibly loving. She's very typical in her behavior and conformed to the breed. We describe her as happy-go-lucky, outgoing, and always in a good mood when she's with people. Minty has a balanced personality and positive energy. She is easy to please, well-behaved and appreciates being treated nicely. She'd make a great companion to just about any home, even someone less experienced with the breed.

Behavior with people:

Volunteers have described Mint Julep as being "beyond sweet," "a total doll," and "stage-five clinger." She loves to cuddle and is especially fond of any human who will lay with her on the bed. MJ is just a super sweet and chill girl. MJ doesn't discriminates and loves everyone the same way. She's the happiest when cuddling next to someone on the couch or in bed.

Behavior with children:

Unknown but we cant imagine her being bad with children. She seems to have all the great qualifications to be a wonderful family companion.

Behavior with other dogs:

Mint Julep is a people-dog and doesn't seem too interested in making doggy-friends. We think she'd do better as an only pet.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown. She might have a mild prey drive but seems to be easily redirected.

Training:

So easy and well-behaved! She knows basic commands and seems to be housebroken. She keeps her kennel clean at the shelter and doesn't have accidents in the playrooms. Mint Julep is VERY eager-to-please and should be a breeze to train.

Best Attribute:

Her love for people! Her congeniality. She is so docile, loving and sweet. A total love-bug. If you are looking for a great breed representative, a dog with no hang-ups, easy to handle and very affectionate, look no further. Mint Julep is your gal!
