Background Info:



Maxillo was found injured and unable to move, whimpering in a ditch. We suspect he was hit by a car and left to die. He was pretty banged up and diagnosed with a broken jaw. Maxillo was quickly taken to safety at the local pound, and got his injuries treated. He is now doing much better and recuperating from his ordeal in a caring foster home.

Max has made great progr4ess with his healing. He still has a mild limp from a bruised bone, but doing better everyday.

Physical Description:

Comical little clown who looks like he was patched-up together from different breeds' pieces. He may or may not have Pit Bull in him. He's a little longer than he is tall and has bowed legs. He's about the size of a large Beagle, definitely smaller than a Boxer. Maxillo has the cutest face with a silly underbite, adorable little teeth, and irresistible pink lips. He is an adorable pup with fur as soft as velvet!



Current Living Situation:

Max is fostered in a home with two other Pit Bull mixes: a 9-year-old female and an 8-year-old male. There is a 6-foot privacy fence in the back yard where they can all play together outside. They all get along swimmingly! At night all three dogs sleep in bed together with foster mom. Awww!



Personality:

Maxillo is very well-mannered and balanced for a young pup. We suspect he has maybe lived inside a home before. Max is upbeat and enjoys playtime, but isn't in need of attention the whole day. He also spends time laying around in dog beds during the day, but cuddling up on the couch is his favorite. He's all around an easy-going, happy dog.

Behavior with people:

Max is a little shy at first and needs some time to warm up to new people. Once he loves you though, it's game over! He loves being where you are. Max is slowly becoming more confident and will spend a bit of time away from his foster mom. He does get a bit anxious when she steps out, but settles down.



Max's foster mom thinks his perfect owner would be someone who likes to take walks, play for a bit, and loves to cuddle - ideally someone who doesn't mind dogs being on the furniture! Not a must though, since crate training is in progress.



Behavior with children:

Behavior with other dogs:

Max loves to be with his housemates. He initiates play with the male, who is the more playful of the two dogs. His play style ranges from rolling around on the floor to being rambunctious. Because he is a young dog, he does look to the other dogs for cues, but is learning to be more independent. Max would do great in a home with a compatible dog.

Training:

His foster home has started basic training. Max knows sit, down, and go lay down. He is very treat-motivated and appears to be a quick learner. He is mostly lose in the house, but kennel training is in progress. Having a cozy environment inside the kennel has been helpful. Max will go in and lay down with the door open when the foster mom is nearby.



Max is great on a leash - starts out pulling, but then settles into a nice trot.



He does pretty good in the car and stays in the back seat. When on the highway, Max will lay down and nap.

Best attribute:

Max wants to be your everything. He would love to cuddle up with you on the couch so you can hear his wide range of snores and watch his face make little twitches. It's so dang cute! And if you want a dog to sport the latest in doggie coats, Max is happy to oblige :)
