Masquerade
Transformed into the Belle of the ball with her masquerade mask.
Background Info:
Before joining MPR, Masquerade was "trapped" by a local dog trapper and brought into the city shelter as a stray. She was so friendly that no actual trap was needed!
Adoption Fee: $200
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 7-11 mths
Weight: Growing
Health Condition:
Masquerade is currently under going treatment for some tummy issues but is making great progress!
Physical Description:
Masquerade has the cutest blue patches over her eyes along with those adorable high flip ears! She pulls at your heartstrings with her big pouty puppy girl eyes and her heart shaped black nose! She is a long, lanky, and an athletic built teenager that can't wait to show you her zoomies!
Current Living Situation:
Masquerade is fostered in a three bedroom home with one adult and one teenager. She has access to a medium to small fenced yard with a four foot picket fence. She respects the fence so far but is always supervised while out. She has two other fur siblings but is taking it slow with introductions. At this time, all of the dogs are kept separate. Masquerade is very excited to meet them! She trades off with her foster siblings on sleeping with foster mom in her bed. On nights not sleeping in the bed, she is quite content and surprisingly wonderful for her age at going in her kennel and going right to sleep! Masquerade loves her walks and is excellent on car rides so far! When running zoomies in her yard she is easily distracted when she sees a squirrel and wants to chase it. She is showing some prey drive even for her young age.
Personality:
Masquerade is still in that teenage time of a Terrier's life that makes them very inquisitive, yet she seems to be very easily redirected to remember her manners. Foster mom describes her as a happy and outgoing goofball! She has a well-balanced personality with a medium energy level. Masquerade loves her active time, but also loves to snuggle up! She seems interested in learning more obedience and tricks! Her favorite tricks so far are sitting when told when she forgets she should keep all four on the floor and before she eats are her fastest tricks! Someone did work with this gal before she ended up on the streets because she is wicked smart and eager to please!
Behavior with people:
Masquerade is friendly and outgoing when meeting new people! She would prefer everyone take her into their arms and rub her belly when she meets people, but is easily redirected to sit and wait her turn.
Behavior with children:
Masquerade's behavior with young children is unknown. At this time, she has only been around her almost 18 year old foster human brother and his friends. She was the life of the party!
Behavior with other dogs:
Masquerade has a lot of play energy and could get a little bothersome to an older fur brother, but she also does well learning to be an even better house dog from them. With proper introductions, Masquerade could live with a compatible male dog.
Behavior with other animals:
Masquerade seems to be increasing her prey drive to squirrels and cats in the backyard. We suggest a home with no cats at this time.
Training:
Masquerade sits so fast when her foster mom reminds her to! Working on "Wait" but we are optimistic it won't take her long to control those impulses. Masquerade has been doing great in her foster home and seems to be crate trained and housebroken so far, even overnight. Of course we always give our teenagers some leniency for accidents to happen. Masquerade sits as soon as she sees her dog bowl come out then runs to her kennel to be fed and sits again! She is soooo smart and soooo eager to please!
Best Attribute:
Masquerade's best attribute is the way she looks right into your heart with those blue grey puppy dog eyes! She points her head down, looks up with her eyes, and BOOM you are in love with her! She also LOVES to be your lapdog once playtime is over!
