Lily

Aquarelle icon.jpg
Lily flowers are associated with love and devotion. In China, lilies are used in weddings because they are tied to 100 years of love. They are also associated to good luck.

Background Info:

Lily was adopted from MPR as a puppy in 2018. Unfortunately, as she’s matured, she can no longer share a home with another dog. Her family has tried to manage it for years but have come to the conclusion that their dogs would be happier if they did not have to spend their time on a rotation schedule. They are committed to keeping Lily as long as it takes to find her the perfect home as an only dog.

Adoption Fee: $100
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 5-7 yrs
Weight: 45-55 lbs
Health Condition:

Overall, Lily is healthy. However, she has been diagnosed with epileptic seizures and takes a low-cost medication to manage her condition. Her adoptive family states that her seizures are few and far between, only having two this past year.

Physical Description:

Lily on the small size with a petite build. Her coat is mostly white with some adorable gray patches on her hips and over one eye. Her natural ears are to die for – one gray and the other white with freckles. We bet if you put a level on them, they’d be perfectly even.

Current Living Situation:

While Lily can longer spend time with her companion dog, her adoptive family has agreed to keep her until we find her a new home. She is crate-trained and housebroken. There is a dog door in the house where she has access to the fenced yard to go as she pleases. At night Lily sleeps loose in the house. She would prefer to sleep right next to you, and we mean RIGHT next to you, even under the covers if allowed. 😉

Lily was raised with two young kids, and she shares a home with a cat no problem!

Personality:

Lily is a very happy and outgoing goofball with lots of energy. She is a talkative girl and lets you know when she wants your attention. She doesn’t bark, but she will be vocal with her “wookie” sighs and puffs. Hilarious! Her adoptive family describes Lily as having two modes:

1 – Super lively! She loves to do zoomies and chase a ball or toy all over the yard. If she were allowed to, she would run 5 miles every day!

2 - A total snuggle buddy. Lily’s love language is physical touch for sure. She loves to be in your lap and always wants your hand on her.

Behavior with people:

This gal is super friendly with everyone. Like a typical happy pitty, she can be excitable when meeting new people and needs positive leadership. She is responsive but very smart. She might try to outsmart you if she sees an opportunity.

Behavior with children:

Lily grew up with two children from when they were born to now toddler age. The children were taught from the beginning to respect her and not trigger her excitement. They understand doggy-zoomies and know to get out of her way she does the butt-run in the yard. Lily is comfortable with kids of all ages but her happy personality needs to be taken in consideration. She could overwhelm young children that aren't used to dogs or knock over toddlers. A home with active teenagers would be ideal for her.

Behavior with other dogs:

She grew up around an older dog but she should now be the only dog in her new home. Her adoptive dad says Lily just doesn’t speak “dog” well and can’t pick up on other dogs’ cues. She will ignore it when another dog tells her to back off, which can obviously lead to serious problems.

Behavior with other animals:

While she doesn’t get along with other dogs, cats are another story and this is where Lily can win some bonus points. Lily grew up around a cat! They get along extremely well as all Lily wants to do is snuggle with her. The cat is ten years old, very laid back, and enjoys laying around the house with Lily, either on the couch right beside each other or get this, they will even share the dog bed together. Awwww!

Training:

Lily has all the basic commands mastered like sit, down, stay, and shake. She can be very stubborn though and sometimes has a hard time listening to call commands. But with enough positive enforcement (aka treats) she is very willing to learn and eager to please. 😃
