Kamari
The name Kamari means Moon & "Great Joy", and is of Arabic origin.
Background Info:
Kamari was found as a stray. We do not have any info regarding her past and upbringing.
Kamari is healthy and ready for adoption.
Physical Description:
Exquisite blue brindle coat and a beautiful head/face. Her eyes are expressive and reflect her friendly disposition. Kamari is muscular and well-proportioned. A true beauty, inside and out.
Current Living Situation:
Kamari is fostered in a home with two adults and a three year old male Pit Bull. There is a medium yard with a five foot tall picket fence, which Kamari respects. Kamari is kept in a crate when no one is home and sleeps in her crate at night. The introduction with the resident dog has been successful.
Personality:
Kamari is a super loving soul and her foster parents claim she is made of snuggles. She loves to spend time on the couch with her people and playing in the yard with her foster brother. She does pretty well in the car, but wants to be in your business so it is best if you can prevent her from climbing up.
She isn't overly playful with her humans, but she loves running around the yard with her foster brother. That said, Kamari is very calm while in the house and really just wants to lay around or cuddle. Once she gets outside she can be excitable and really wants to play.
Behavior with people:
She has yet to meet a person she doesn't like. She can be exuberant and jumpy when meeting a person for the first time but calms down quickly. Typical Pit Bull behavior. Everyone is a long-lost-friend.
She is one of the snuggliest dogs we have ever been around. Pretty much as soon as you sit down she is going to want to climb up with you and snuggle.
Behavior with children:
Foster parents aren't sure how well she would do with younger kids because when she gets excited she can get a bit mouthy and nippy. Older kids or an adult home is preferred.
Behavior with other dogs:
Foster dad believes Kamari would do well in a house with a compatible dog. This comes with a slight caveat; Kamari could overwhelm an older dog with her constant desire to play, especially when outside. A young, playful and outgoing male might be a good match for her.
During the night, Kamari sleeps in her foster parents' room in a kennel with her foster brother free to roam. They really don't have much interest in each other once they get tired and lay down.
Behavior with other animals:
She definitely has a strong prey drive and squirrels are a main trigger. Her prey drive should rule out a home with a cat, though we have yet to encounter one during our outings.
Training:
Kamari is housebroken in her foster home. She goes and sits by the door politely when she needs to go out. We are working on some basic commands and crate training. She is responsive to training, but definitely needs someone to be consistent and provide positive leadership. Kam has a tendency to pull on the leash when excited and is very strong. She can be difficult to redirect when she sees other animals on walks. She's a great candidate for obedience training.
Best Attribute:
A word from foster dad: "She is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever been around. Pretty much as soon as we get home she just wanted to cuddle on the couch with us. She is such a loving dog towards both us and so friendly with her foster brother. Kamari would be a beautiful addition to her forever family."
