Joy

Aquarelle icon.jpg
Joy is the protagonist of the 2015 Disney animated feature film, "Inside Out." She is lighthearted, optimistic, and determined to find the fun in every situation. Joy sees life's challenges as opportunities, and the less happy moments as hiccups on the way back to something great.

Background Info:

This lovely dog was found as a stray and taken to our local city shelter. She was never claimed, which surprised the staff who had fallen head-over-heels with such a good natured princess. MPR has no information regarding her past and upbringing.

Adoption Fee: 250.00
Breed: Am Staff
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 yo
Weight: 55-65 lbs
Health Condition:

Joy is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

Her exquisite beauty reflects her amazing temperament and sweet disposition. This dog is a precious gem inside and out. She has a healthy deep-blue coat with a precious face and adoring expressions. Though we do not have a pedigree for her, Joy has the physical conformity of the Am Staff breed.

Current Living Situation:

Joy became a volunteer-favorite the day she arrived at our shelter. Since then, she has received nothing but praises and kudos for her awesome behavior and perfect demeanor. She is absolutely no trouble at all, patient, quiet in her kennel, non destructive and clean. We are all very impressed with her manners and eagerness to be a good dog.

Personality:

She's a doll! Such a lovely dog with a docile and loving personality, happy-go-lucky and fun-loving nature. Joy is pretty much the epiphany of a great Pit Bull dog. We have no doubts she will become a breed ambassador in her new home and make her new family proud and happy. We still can't comprehend that someone abandoned her. There must have been a very serious reason, because dogs like Joy are few and far between.

Joy's level of energy is low to moderate. She prefers cuddling to playing hard but has a happy prance when in a playful mood. Her most endearing traits however, are how affectionate, loving, and sweet she is.

Joy is not a push-over but she is more submissive than dominant, She is super eager to please and very sensitive to the needs and moods of her loved-ones.

Behavior with people:

Everyone she meets is a long-lost friend. She absolutely adores people and seeks all the attention she can get with gentle enthusiasm. She's actually a little clingy sometimes but responsive (though disappointed) when you indicate that a cuddle session is over. She's just a good girl and doesn't want to make anyone upset, but boy does she love snuggles and cuddles.

Please do not apply for Joy is you are looking for an independent guard dog. That's just not her. She's the one who needs protected and she loves people too much to stay away from them.

Behavior with children:

Unknown. As of now, we have no reason to believe that Joy would not do well with children. That said, she is a sensitive dog and her good nature might render her a little passive. For her sake, we prefer a home with older, gentle, and respectful children.

Behavior with other dogs:

Unknown. Joy is not showing any reactiveness or inappropriate behaviors towards the dogs kenneled next to her at the shelter but she has not been introduced to any dog since being with us. We won't rule out a home with a compatible dog provided that owners have a good understanding of the breed and know how to ensure diligent supervision and trigger management.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown

Training:

She seems to have the basics; will sit for a treat, comes when called, etc. Even though we have not seen her in a home, she appears housebroken and hasn't had any accidents inside at the shelter, in her kennel or in the playrooms.

Additional Information:

Due to the current tragic lack of pet adoptions throughout the country, we have been forced to lower the adoption fees of several dogs that have been lingering in our program too long. This is dangerously affecting our funds and ability to continue our rescue mission. Raising the adoption fee of highly adoptable dogs like Joy helps us keep the boat afloat during those hard times, and help dogs that are not as lucky as her. Joy inherited the full package when she was born; her beauty runs as deep inside as it shines on the outside. We believe she is very much worth paying a higher fee in order to help the less privileged dogs. We feel confident that someone will be glad to give such a wonderful dog a loving home, while helping other dogs at the same time.
