Background Info:

Destiny was picked up as a stray and impounded at the city shelter. It wasn't the first time this poor gal found herself in that predicament. She was known by the staff and belonged to an unscrupulous local breeder. This time thankfully, she wasn't claimed, finally putting an end to her sad life as a neglected and abused breeding machine. We do not have any other info regarding her upbringing, but can only imagine it wasn't a pampered life due to the condition she was in when she arrived. Her poor body just explains her previous hell….

Adoption Fee: $135
Breed: Pit Bull/AmBull
Sex: Female
Age: 2-4 yo
Weight: 60-70 lbs
Health Condition:

Destiny has nicely recuperated from her hard life since in our care. She was very thin upon arrival, dirty, and so tired from having gone through multiple pregnancies without receiving adequate supplements and important prenatal care. She has quickly gotten back on her feet though, and put her sad life behind - physically and mentally.

Physical Description:

Destiny has blossom into a goddess of beauty under our care. Wow; this dog is strikingly gorgeous! Her previous owners claimed that she was a papered American Bully. We don't know if this is true or not but she sure is a stunner. She is a big, stocky girl with a muscular build and well-proportioned conformation. Her blue fawn, tan, and white coat has regained its shine back and she has the cutest snoot freckles. Her ears were cropped and one of them refuses to stand up, which totally adds to her charm and gives her the most unique appearance.

Destiny seems to have suffered a horrific injury some time ago, leaving her with several missing toes on one foot and a couple more on the other one. She is not limping and it doesn't seem to cause her any issues, but it could affect the length of walks she can take and the kind of terrain she can maneuver.

Current Living Situation:

Destiny has learned the ropes of indoor living at MPR shelter like a pro. We're not sure if she was ever welcomed inside a house before but she quickly discovered what being a well-loved and pampered companion is all about. Needless to say, she is thrilled and very grateful.

Destiny learned to use her doggy-door right away to do her business in her outside run if needed, but she prefers to wait until she has access to a yard. She has been non-destructive inside her kennel and is quiet most of the time. She will bark at meal time though, but who would blame her? Food was obviously not always available before, so she sure is worried about missing out now.

Personality:

Destiny was probably born a fun-loving and happy dog, but life threw her a serious curveball when she fell in the wrong hands. She seemed a little confused about love when she first arrived but adapted quickly. She is sweet and soaks up attention, but doesn't initiate at first. She will follow you around though, and warms up to affection.

Volunteers are motivating her to play with toys, but it's obviously all new to her. Her current level of energy is medium/low and her temperament is a good balance between submissive and dominant. Overall, she seems like a well-adjusted dog who suffered mistreatment, but very much wants to trust and love people.

Behavior with people:

She is slightly reserved at first but warms up quickly, especially towards women. She loves men too, but it takes her a few minutes longer to loosen-up around them. We believe that she could become a little protective of her loved-ones, and territorial towards strangers.

Behavior with children:

Unknown. While she should be awesome with the members of her family, she could become a little protective when it comes to visiting friends. Something to keep in mind if you have a busy household.

Behavior with other dogs:

Destiny was briefly introduced to another dog since in our program and it went ok. She was a little uptight but didn't show aggression. We do believe however that as a breeding machine, her previous interactions with other dogs might have not always been very positive. So she is definitely guarded and shows no interest in making doggy-friends. She was actually a little upset about the dogs kenneled next to her when she first arrived, but has since gotten over it.

It is possible that with a breed-savvy owner who knows how to proceed with slow and diligent introductions, Destiny could learn to live with an easy-going male that would let her be the queen. Destiny will not be placed in a home with other female dogs, and she is most likely not a candidate for dog parks and doggy-day care. We believe that the best situation for her would be as an only pet, but we will not rule out a home with a compatible male if a potential owner is receptive to our recommendations on how to properly introduce and manage the dogs.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown.

Training:

Destiny is naturally well-behaved, but doesn't seem to know many commands yet (if any). We're working on it. Volunteers haven't reported any issues with her. She's had no accidents inside the shelter or in her kennel. Destiny is easy to walk on leash, although she's only been on short walks without any stimulus or distractions.

Best Attributes:

Chill and laid back. Manageable and easy to please. And keep in mind that her pictures dont do her justice. Destiny is a gorgeous dog in person with a huge head, stocky body and most loving eyes.
