Background Info:



Bunga originally came to MPR in December 2022 after he was found as a stray and taken to the local animal shelter. He was adopted in February, but unfortunately did not get along well with the female dog in his adopters’ home, so he is back in our program. The family who adopted him are graciously fostering the little guy until we can find a better placement for him!

Physical Description:

This adorabull pocket pitty weighs about 40 lbs and he is quite the lowrider! Bunga has a beautiful tricolored coat. He’s short, stocky, and very muscular. He has a big smile that takes up most of the real estate on his cute little head 😁



Current Living Situation:

Bunga is being fostered by his previous adopters until he finds his perfect home. He lives with two adults and a 13-year-old female pitty. He has the luxury of a quarter-acre fenced yard around the house. He is housebroken and crate-trained, which is where he stays when home alone. However, foster mom is retired so she is home most of the day. Bunga sleeps lose in the house at night on a comfy dog bed and snores to let you know he’s sleeping well 😉



Personality:

Bunga is a very sweet boy with a medium level of energy. He’s a perfect gentleman with a playful side. He loves going on walks daily and sunning himself outside. Although if it is raining, you can expect him to be snuggling up right next to you. He enjoys car rides and visiting dog-friendly establishments.

Behavior with people:

Well-behaved when meeting new people, but slightly timid. It may take him a little bit of time to truly relax and warm up to new people, but once he does, he is very affectionate! He doesn’t discriminate – he likes both men and women.



Behavior with children:

It’s unknown how he responds to little ones, but foster mom reports that he was also well-behaved when meeting preteens/teenagers in the neighborhood. We think that Bunga could probably live with children since he’s just a little guy himself, but introductions will need to be slow and carefully monitored due to his timidness when meeting new people.



Behavior with other dogs:

He loves going out in the neighborhood and greets other friendly dogs that he meets like a gentleman. However, Bunga is uncomfortable interacting with the senior female in his current foster home. It may be a simple personality incompatibility, or mismatched energy levels due to their age difference. We think Bunga would be most happy as an only pet. It’s almost like he’s an introvert – he can be friendly in social situations, but he’s more confident and comfortable by himself at home. He gets more attention and affection that way anyhow 😊



Behavior with other animals:

No cats! Bunga has a very high prey drive. He briefly met some cats, and it was a no go - too intense for him to safely share a home with kitties. He also loves chasing squirrels, rabbits, etc., in the back yard and there have been some close calls! Like many bullies, he can exhibit a stubborn side on occasion.

Training:

Bunga is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows some basic commands like sit and wait. He’s very eager to please and he learns quickly. He walks quite well on a leash and enjoys riding in the car. Bunga can get distracted when out and about and still needs some further training to "come" on command.

Best Attribute:

Bunga is a bit unsure when you first meet him, (who knows what he's been through!) but he is such a lovable little nugget! He talks to you with low, guttural sounds, dances, and prances when he's happy and he is ALWAYS happy to see you when you come in the door. He may get a case of zoomies and run around the house or just stare up at you lovingly with his sweet face. Once he becomes more comfortable, he seeks your attention, loves his snuggle time and belly rubs and wants to be by your side.
