Winter Storm Blair was a major winter storm that brought heavy snow to the United States in January 2025. It was the first coast-to-coast snowstorm of the year.

Background Info:

During the worst of the storm in the middle of the night an elderly man woke to the sounds of a crying puppy outside his apartment window. He called animal control where they found a puppy locked in a crate just dropped off on the sidewalk covered in snow and freezing. Thanks to the gentleman and the animal control officer the sweet lil pup was saved and we couldn't say anything but yes when they reached out for her to come to our program!

Adoption Fee: $400
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 6-9 mths
Weight: 30+lbs & Growing
Health Condition:

Blair has been really healthy since coming to her foster home. She's recovering well from her cherry eye repair surgery. The vets are really happy with how her eyes are healing! Blair had a little cold when she first came to her foster home but quickly recovered from that. She was also treated for demodex, a very common skin condition in puppies that cause small bald patches. Blair's bald spots have already stopped growing and are starting to filling back in. She will not have any long lasting effects from any of the minor health issues she's had! Overall she is healing well and ready for her forever home!

Physical Description:

Blair is a short but sturdy girl! She is still growing but she's currently a small/medium dog. If there were an award for cutest underbite, Blair would win! She also has super expressive ears and the waggiest tail ever. She's a happy lil lady and just loves everyone she meets!

Current Living Situation:

Blair currently lives in a house with one adult female, no children and a fenced yard. Her foster home has a medium sized male dog and a female cat. She sleeps in a kennel at night and is kenneled when she's home alone. She does well in her kennel! Blair has been taken on a few walks when it hasn't been frigid, but is still working on leash manners. She loves to go for car rides and meet people when she has outings.

Personality:

Blair is truly a bright light! She is the sweetest and silliest girl! She is still a puppy can get rambunctious at times, but is easily corrected and she’s very eager to please. She has is wonderfully balanced between being playful and wanting to relax and snuggle up! Blair seems to have never met a stranger, she loves every person she meets and wants to be everyone’s bestie. After what she’s been through, it’s pretty incredible to see how trusting and loving this little short-stack is. Blair loves to go for car rides, she was a dream at her vet appointment, and has charmed all the MPR volunteers that she’s met! She loves to play play play with her foster brother dog and desperately wants to be friends with the cat in her foster home. She knows how to sit and lay down and is working on a few more commands. Blair is smart and very food motivated so it’s really fun to work with her on learning new things!

Behavior with people:

Blair loves people! She’s met quite a few adults and thinks every single person is her BFF. And she’s not wrong. She’s still a puppy so she’s working on not getting overly excited to see new people, but she’s making really good progress. She seems to like women and men alike, and loves human attention!

Behavior with children:

Blair hasn’t been around children in her foster home or met any since she’s been with MPR. Her foster mom thinks she would be very excited to meet children, but being a puppy she may be too rambunctious and strong for small children. We believe that she may be able to live with older children in her forever home.

Behavior with other dogs:

Blair has been getting along with her 10 year old foster brother dog - loves to play with him, really likes following him around and being his shadow. Her foster brother is a little picky with which dogs he likes, and Blair has completely won him over. She has a lot of social awareness with her play, she approaches slowly and bows to the older dog, preferring to be submissive when she first meets a new dog. With slow and intentional introductions, we believe that Blair could live with a compatible male dog in her forever home.

Behavior with other animals:

Blair is super interested in the cat that lives at her foster home but learned quickly not to chase her. They are often in the same room and while she would like to be BFFs with the cat, the cat has other ideas. Blair has been respectful of the boundaries set by the cat. She has not shown signs of a high prey drive. Blair will occasionally chase a squirrel or a bird in the yard. She’s more interested in playing with the other dog, trying to get the neighbors to come pet her and finding the best sticks to parade around with.

Training:

Blair knows the commands for “sit” and “lay down”. She’s working on a few more commands too! She is very food motivated and easy and fun to work with. Overall her personality is eager to please, she’s occasionally a little stubborn but in a normal puppy way. Blair is wonderful in her kennel and stays in it overnight as well as when she’s home alone. She occasionally whines when she goes in the kennel but settles quickly. She loves a kong or another busy toy when she goes into the kennel. Blair is still learning leash manners but shows a lot of promise, her foster mom thinks that it will get even better as the weather warms up and they can go for more walks. Blair is working on perfecting potty training! She has the occasional accident in the house but it’s usually because her potty cue was missed. She prefers to go outside and is getting really good at holding it and asking to go out. She's a smart gal and quick learner! She will do well with continued training in her forever home.

Best Attribute:

It’s hard to pick a best trait for Blair because she has such a fabulous personality. She is one of the most loving and cuddly dogs ever. Blair lvoes to be snuggled up with her people on the couch and prefers to be under the blankets whenever possible! She’s also a little clown, making her foster mom laugh so much throughout each day. When she is confused or trying to figure something out, Blair tilts her head very dramatically and it’s the cutest thing. She’s very inquisitive and likes to follow everyone around and check out what they’re doing. Blair, despite what she went through before she was rescued, is a little love bug who is super trusting, silly and will be a great companion for her forever family.
