Aquarelle is a style of painting using thin, typically transparent, pastel watercolors.
Aquarelle is currently under treatment for heartworm disease. She has a few more weeks to go and should be back on her feet by mid-June.
She came to MPR a little bit on the thin side, but has since been gaining weight. She is filling out nicely into her medium-sized frame. This beauty has a snow-white coat with the exception of some dainty tan freckles - a few adorning her pink nose, one on each eye, and a few more on her buttery soft ears. It's easy to get lost in those sweet yellow eyes!
Aquarelle is fostered by an adult woman and her teenage son, whom she shares her love with equally. Aquarelle rotates between time in her crate and roaming free around the house. When she's not curled up beside her humans, she likes to gaze out the windows and keep tabs on the neighborhood squirrels.
In typical pitty fashion, Aquarelle is a people-pleaser. We believe her energy level will improve somewhat once her heartworm treatment is completed, but so far, she appears to be a very well-rounded gal. She has bouts of energy when the zoomies set in, but she is just as happy to stop and join you on the couch for some cuddles. She enjoys going on car rides and has some cute quirks when it comes to her eating habits that add to her charm. Aquarelle's foster mom says she can be particular and prefers company to eating alone.
Behavior with people:
Quality time with her humans is Aquarelle's love language, but this sweet and easy-going girl is always up for meeting new friends. Her foster mom says she is a treat to walk and displays good manners - she sits when greeting new people and patiently waits for pets and well-deserved compliments.
Behavior with children:
Aquarelle's smaller stature and love of human affection could make her a good companion for children. She has done well with the kids she has met so far, demonstrating good behavior and friendliness without getting over-excited. Aquarelle loves to snuggle up with the teenager in her foster home while he plays video games. So long as she is near her kiddo, she is content. Did we mention she likes to snuggle with her humans?
Behavior with other dogs:
We believe Aquarelle will be protective of the humans she loves whole heatedly and would therefore do best as the only dog in her home. There is a male dog in her foster home but they are kept separate due to him not appreciating Aquarelle's bossy way and her not backing down.
On walks she can be a little reactive but redirected easily if another dog is approaching.
Behavior with other animals:
No feline friends please! In addition to a high prey drive for the neighborhood squirrels she closely monitors, rabbits are also a no-go.
Though this gorgeous gal likes to be your right-hand girl, she is learning boundaries and is responsive to training. She knows some basic commands and would be a great candidate for additional training due to her eagerness to please. She appears to be housebroken, as she has not had any accidents in her foster home. While she is a primo snuggle partner, she can also stay in her crate all night.
In addition to her gorgeous physical attributes, Aquarelle's gigantic heart is sure to win you over. Whether binging TV on the couch or running errands around town, she is happy to just simply be with her humans. Her very loving and go-with-the-flow nature would allow her to thrive in an active family home or one that's more laid back, just as long as she has enough time with her humans. Aquarelle is seeking a forever home with ample amounts of love where she can generously return her affection.
