Almond Joy
A candy bar manufactured by Hershey's, consisting of whole almonds and sweetened, shredded coconut covered in milk chocolate.
Background Info:
Almond Joy was found as a stray and taken to the city shelter. She was in bad shape but full of hope. She immediately won over the staff with her engaging personality. We received a plea to meet her and sure enough, it was love at first sight.
Health Condition:
Almond Joy is heartworm positive and has began treatment. She should be fully recovered by the end of April.
Potential adopters that have the ability to keep a dog calm for the entire duration of the treatment and are able to visit our veterinarian for the injections, can adopt heartworm positive dogs if they wish. There is no extra cost to the adopters.
Physical Description:
A diamond in the rough. This girl will be so pretty once her coat is shiny again and she has gained a little weight. She was found dirty, covered in parasites and malnourished, but has since been recovering beautifully. Almond Joy is medium size and very well proportioned. She has gorgeous soulful eyes that are full of love and hope.
Current Living Situation:
AJ is soaking up love and cherishing her new-found comfort at MPR shelter. This dog is incredibly thankful for the care she is receiving and not afraid to show her gratitude. She is a very well-behaved and easy guest and the volunteers are smitten with her loving nature and docile personality.
Personality:
Such a sweet and loving lady. Almond has been nothing but a total sweetheart since her arrival. Her energy level is a bit on the low side right now but should mildly increase once her heartworm treatment is completed. She's definitely not a spazz, but we hope she will become a little more playful as she adjusts to the good life. As of now, cuddling on the couch with our volunteers is her favorite thing.
While not timid or shy, Almond is slightly on the submissive side. She is very eager to please and will do her very best to earn your love.
Behavior with people:
Almond Joy looks at people with adoration and has everyone falling head-over heels in love with her darling ways. She is very loving and affectionate but not overly demanding. She's polite, well behaved, and very sociable.
Behavior with children:
Unknown.
Behavior with other dogs:
Almond Joy is not fond of other dogs and would prefer to be an only pet.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown. A home with cats is not recommended.
Training:
She knows the basics and appears to have great house manners. AJ keeps her kennel clean at the shelter and is no trouble whatsoever.
This dog is a treasure and very easy to love. Her pleasant nature and grateful demeanor make her a wonderful companion.
