Hindu name meaning "Blue Night".
Yamini was confiscated from a neglectful situation. Once the owner was informed she would need to be spayed, he abandoned her at the city pound. The staff contacted us as they worried she could once again attract uncaring hands. Yam is now living the good life in foster care, being very grateful of the precious chance she is given.

Yamini is fostered in a home with a couple, one adult child and an older male dog. One of the adults in the home nannies for a number of young children and Yamini is great with kids, Yamini loves to play in the fenced back yard but her favorite thing is going on walks. She is great on the leash! She does not know much about the world and is fascinated by many things she sees. She was concerned about the wooden sheep in the neighbors nativity set. She thought they might be real! Yamini loves to ride in the car and look out the window. Yamini sleeps in a crate next to her dog friend and they are crated during the day when everyone is at work.
Yamini has a great personality! She is outgoing and loves everyone. She loves to give kisses and makes sure everyone in the room gets plenty of her attention. She is a moderate to low energy dog, happy to run outside to potty or go for a walk then come inside and sit and follow you around and watch you do laundry or cook. Her favorite activity is sitting on your lap with you and looking up at you adoringly.
Behavior with adults:
Great with all adults! She's never met a stranger. In fact, this blue beauty is a great breed ambassador; easy to handle, well behaved and very, very people-oriented.
Behavior with children:
Great with children though when she gets excited she may wiggle around and knock a toddler over with her bottom. Even though she is not a hyper dog by any means, her natural cheerfulness when she first greet people would work better for school age children.
Behavior with other dogs:
Good with boy dogs but wants to be the only girl dog in town.
Behavior with other animals:
She pays no attention to birds or squirrels outside. She does not have a very high prey drive. Might be good with cats but not tested yet.
Crate trained, good on a leash. Can sit and working on sitting up. Loves to stand on her hind legs. She can catch snacks also.
Yamini has the cutest face and big square head. She has a dorky, sweet personality and is a loving goof-ball, eager to please and full of love. Her most unique trait is that she is a talker. I have never heard a dog vocalize like her (think Snoopy but with a deeper voice) She mostly talks to herself saying “RRRGLE” and “Kack” and “Gollum, Gollum, Gollum” I think she is a Lord Of The Rings fan.
