Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives, so we will be honest regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of adoptions takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs bios as quickly as we can. In many cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing. Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective, and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

This good looking boy was found as a stray, brought into the city pound and never claimed. We have no information regarding his previous life. We named him after the Scottish drink because of his exceptional coloring. He looks and acts like a well bred dog.

Adoption Fee: $ 200
Breed: Pitbull
Sex: Male
Age: 2-5 yrs
Weight: 50-60 lbs

Health Condition:

Scotch is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

He's gorgeous! It's not easy to describe his coat color but its like a golden-liver with a bluish undertone. Pit Bulls sure come in the prettiest shades. Scotch is medium size and has a proportioned and athletic built. He's quite the looker.

Current Living Situation:

Scotch is doing pretty well at MPR shelter. He needed just a day or two to adapt and is now being a good sport about his situation and not causing any trouble. He's quickly making his way into a volunteer's favorit because he's easy to handle and eager to please.  Scotch keeps his kennel neat and clean and uses his doggy-door to access his outdoor run if he needs to relieve himself.

Friendly and outgoing, Scotch seems to always be in a good mood. He does hilarious "butt-runs" in the yard but settles nicely when inside in the playroom. We are still getting to know him, but as of now, can't say anything bad about him. He's a well-balanced, charming dog who doesn't seem to have any hang-ups in life.

Scotch's Level of energy is slightly on the higher side but he's not hyper by any means. Just enthusiastic about fun-time and ready to be in the middle of the action with everyone. We bet Scotch would love long walks in the park or hiking in the woods with his family. He might even enjoy accompanying his owner on a morning run.  We've actually been told by our volunteers that he walks great on the leash.

Behavior with people:

He's pretty good with people. Seems to like everyone equally. Volunteers are not reporting any issues with him and everyone agrees that he's super friendly and easy to handle. He's been described as an "excellent listener" by our volunteers.

Behavior with children:

Behavior with other dogs:

Scotch hasn't been with other dogs since being with us but was part of a small playgroup during his brief stay at the city shelter. The staff reported that he did well with females.

Behavior with other animals:

He seems generally well behaved. He was even hesitant to get on the couch when he first arrived, as if he didn't think he as allowed to. It seems like he was someone's companion and have been in a house before. We dont know for sure but he has good house manners.

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
