Hagrid is an incredibly warm, kind-hearted man, who often forgets his exceptional size and strength when patting people on the back. Another of Hagrid's greatest traits is his courage. He is also very loyal to his friends and ready to defend them if necessary.
Big Hagrid was given up by his owners because they could no longer afford his care. We dont have any other info on his background. He didn't appear mistreated when coming to us.

BIG boy! Over 85 Lbs of love and sweetness. His heart is as big as his size. Hagrid has a beautiful blue brindle and white coat and a soft and loving face.
Hagrid is currently acing shelter life at MPR's resort, being a very good boy in his kennel. He is laid back and patient and so very sweet. Great dog and the volunteers are thrilled to have him as a guest.
Very easy-going. On the calm, "couch-potato" side. His personality is very well balanced. Not dominant, but confident and comfortable with people. The dog is naturally well behaved and very easy to handle despite his enormous size.
Behavior with people:
Friendly, loving, chill and respectful. Hagrid seems comfortable with everyone and doesn't have favorites. As long as someone is nice to him, he's happy.
Behavior with children:
Unknown. His big though, so keep this in mind. He's laid back and rather gentle. A home with older and respectful kids might work for him.
Behavior with other dogs:
Hagrid did well in a play group with other dogs. A home with a compatible female would most likely be fine for him. He would do well as an only pet as well. Hagrid will not be placed with another male dog though, since he's a big confident guy and could be perceived as a threat or a challenge.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown but a home with a cat might be possible. He doesn't seem to have a high prey drive, though he has not been cat-tested.
He's easy, responsive and well behaved. He keeps his kennel clean and is not destructive of his bedding. He's currently learning basic commands with our volunteers.
He's chill, easy-going and gorgeous. And for such a big dog, pretty easy to handle.
