But friendship is the breathing rose, with sweets in every fold.
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
Little Rosebud is still amazed by the turn-around her life has taken since being noticed by MPR volunteers. She had just gotten out of the animal control truck when we met her in the intake room. We happened to be at the right place at the right time for this precious angel. Even though she was scared, dirty and obviously leaving behind a hard life, Rosebud did all she could to win us over. And it worked. Underneath the layer of misery, the filth, the bad smell, poor coat and parasites, we saw a gorgeous princess waiting to emerge.

Rosebud is heartworm positive and has a minor case of demodex mange. She will be available for adoption when she is back in good shape!
Rosebud went right to a foster home and is living with a male pitbull, male coonhound lab mix, and a female papillon. Her foster family did a crate and rotate for the first couple weeks and the intro was a non event. They have a privacy fenced yard and no children in the house. She sleeps in bed with her foster mom at night.
She went on a few walks before starting heartworm treatment and did very well on a leash.
Rosebud is generally quiet and calm when she first meets you. Once she warms up, she is a sweet wiggle butt and fairly independent. Her foster mom says that she loves to be outside and roll in the grass, enjoying the sunshine.
Behavior with people:
She can be a little reserved until she feels like she can trust you. Not hard to imagine, coming from such a life of neglect. But her foster mom says that she is always gentle and loving with everyone she meets.
Behavior with children:
She has met a few children on walks and is always amiable but not very interested in play. Since she is a bit timid, a home with older children would be best for her.
Behavior with other dogs:
She does very well with her foster siblings and would most likely be a good addition to a multi dog home with a proper introduction.
Behavior with other animals:
She has only met one cat and was inquisitive but not TOO interested.
Rosebud is working on crate training and housebreaking. She most likely never learned how to be a real pet so her foster family is taking it slow and focusing on letting her feel how loved she is.
Her foster mom says definitely her gentle nature. We are not sure what this sweet girl went through before she came to us but she is so full of love and MPR can't wait to see her gain confidence when she gets used to being treated the way she deserves.
