Ronald McDonald

Ronald McDonald is the clown mascot of the McDonald's restaurant chain. He is the "Chief Happiness Officer".
1/17

Background Info:

Ronald McDonald was found as stray, along with a female Golden Retriever. They were both taken to the local pound where the retriever was quickly adopted, but sadly Ronald was left behind. He was selected to meet MPR's intake crew because of his awesome personality and super friendly disposition.

Adoption Fee: $200
Breed:  Pit Bull Terrier mix
Sex:  Male
Age:  2-3 yrs
Weight:  60-70 lbs
Color:  Gold and white

Health Condition:

Unfortunately, this outstanding boy tested positive for Heartworm disease. He has begun treatment and will be fully recovered in a couple of months. Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for his care.

Physical Description:

He's a gorgeous stocky boy with a very nice gold and white coat. His smile is huge and he looks like a cute and happy clown, hence his name.

Living Situation:

Ronald is appreciating his precious chance at MPR's shelter and doesn't miss a chance to remind us how grateful he is. He's being a super good boy and has quickly become a volunteer favorite. He's so good and no trouble at all. We wish they were all this easy!

Ron keeps his kennel clean and uses his doggy-door when he needs to go potty, although he does prefer waiting for his turn in the yard. He is quiet and polite in his kennel. He doesn't react to other dogs walking in front of him and doesn't cause any ruckus. He is very well-behaved and a much-appreciated guest.

Personality:

Ronald is a fun-loving goober. He is loving and always in a good mood. The happy-go-lucky dude is responsive, easy-going and easy to handle, although not very independent. In fact, he's quite desperate for love. If you are looking for an aloof dog, he's not the one for you. He's very affectionate and loves close contact.

Ron's level of energy is moderate. if not on a little bit on the low side. He is not dominant. He's somewhat submissive but not timid or shy at all. Just eager-to please..... except when it comes to affection. He is demanding in that aspect!

Behavior with people:

Ronald loooooves people... Desperately! He'll grab on to you with all his little heart. We don't think that behavior is permanent, but right now he is trying very hard to find someone to bond with. It's very obvious that he hates being homeless and craves a family of his own.

We have not noticed any difference in the way he acts with men or women. He just wants human friends badly and does not discriminate.

Behavior with children:

Unknown.

Behavior with other dogs:

We know he was a gentleman to the Golden Retriever female he was found with. He was actually very fond of her. We think he might do well in a home with a compatible female with proper introductions and good management of the dogs interactions. He could be an only per too, as he loves people's attention more than anything else. He won't let you ignore him.

When it comes to dogs in general, Ron is a typical Pit Bull. He won't back down if challenged, doesn't do well with other males and should not be taken to off leash dog parks.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown

Training:

He seems naturally well-behaved and polite. His only bad habit is that he likes to gently jump up on people and give them a desperate hug. He will wrap both of his paws around your leg and hang on for dear life. He seems to be housebroken and non-destructive.

Best Attribute:

This dog is pure love and hugs. He makes you fall in love with him very quickly with his sweet eyes full of devotion. His huge smile is to die for! We are very smitten with this sweet and happy clown and we have no doubts you will be too!
