A character from the Star Wars saga, Padmé is a courageous, hopeful leader, serving as Queen and Senator of Naboo.
Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
We don't know the exact details of the sad life Padme left behind, but we can only imagine what a nightmare it was. She arrived at the city pound as a stray, covered in wounds, extremely malnourished, and coated in urine stains. Yet, she was the sweetest little angel. The staff put a plea out for her transfer to our program and upon meeting her we knew right away she was very deserving of this precious chance to turn her life around.
Adoption Fee: $100.00
Breed: Pit Bull
Age: 1-3 yo
Weight: 40-50 lbs
Padme has gained much needed weight. We treated parasites, dermatitis and an eye infection and she is now receiving the best care to help her get back on her feet. Other than suffering from neglect, Padme is now healthy and ready for adoption.
Petite and adorable. Padme is on the small side with a delicate build. Her coat was stained yellow when she arrived, but is quickly blossoming into shinny white fur. She has the cutest little face with a loving expression that is impossible to ignore.
Current Living Situation:
Padme is living-it-up at MPR shelter and obviously thrilled by this new turn of events in her life. She's a wonderful guest with us and absolutely no trouble at all. Great in her kennel, quiet, and non destructive. She keeps her little bed neat and tidy, and enjoys laying on her top bunk, We are still working on her fear of going through her doggy-door, but she doesn't do her business in her kennel. She seems naturally housebroken. It's just a matter of her learning the routine.
Padme is described as a "little angel on earth" by our volunteers. Timid and unsure, but desperately eager to make friends. She has a submissive personality but a super fun-loving nature when she is comfortable. Her energy level is medium and pleasant. She is eager to please and very responsive. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch this poor little scared dog open-up to the good life. She is soooo relieved.
Behavior with people:
Padme is such a little sweetheart. As mentioned, she can be submissive at first, but she warms up as soon as she realizes someone doesn't have bad intentions towards her. From then on, the love-fest is on! In fact Padme is so happy to be with caring people that her whole body wags with her tail when she greets her loved-ones. She enjoys being loved on with all her little heart and is very affectionate in return.
Behavior with children:
She hasn't been with kids since being in our program, but she's a total sweetheart with adults - delicate and gentle. She is also docile but can be timid. While we believe a home with respectful children is an option for this little princess, we prefer older kids due to her sensitive nature.
Behavior with other dogs:
Padme is conflicted and selective when it comes to other dogs. She was introduced to a group of dogs at the city shelter and while happy and playful at first, she quickly became overwhelmed and offensive. She is absolutely not a candidate for dog-parks or doggy-day care. She could perhaps share a home with a compatible male who'd let her be a princess, but we believe she would be more successful as an only pet. She by far, prefers the company of people anyway.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown, but a home with cats is not recommended.
She's learning the basics while being with us. We will update her bio as we get to know her better.
Life was hard before her rescue, and basic resources were not always available. As a result, this silly girl thinks she should burry her toys now, in case she never gets one again. While the behavior is cute and silly, its also a reminder of Padme's tragic past. This sweetie had never known a gentle touch before, a comfy bed, or had been given a favorite toy, She was never told what a good girl she is, or taken to a drive-through for a Pup Cup.
Please be the person who will allow Padme to finally experience the life that all dogs should have.
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
