Padma means Lotus, a symbol of resilience and transformation. While rooted in the mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters.
This sweetheart had a real hard life of neglect, forced to live outside on a heavy chain in someone's yard, until they moved and abandoned her there. Ironically, being discarded by heartless individuals was her lucky-day. Padma was rescued by animal control and is now being given a much needed chance to start a new life with MPR. And we promised her; it will be MUCH better this time.

Adorable little blue beauty with cropped ears. Padma is lean but muscular and well proportionate. She's slightly smaller than average but is gaining a little weight. She has an expressive face, easy to read and very pretty eyes.
Padma is discovering what the good life is all about at MPR shelter. She came from a difficult situation and is not used to being loved and pampered. As you can imagine, she is soaking it up now.
Padma does well in her kennel. She is in the process of learning how to use the dog-door but as of now, she hasn't had accidents inside other than a few sprinkles when she gets overwhelmed. We are working on it and she is improving everyday. She just needs to learn to trust and she is very ready to do so.
Padma keeps her bedding neat and tidy.
She was a little anxious due to the presence of other dogs next to her kennel at first but is getting used to shelter life now and is thriving.
Very sweet, lively, cuddly but unsure of everything. She so wants to be happy and enjoy life without fear. She shows signs of abuse and therefor will need a little time to regain confidence but she is making progress by leaps and bounds. We dont think Padma was born shy. We think she is naturally outgoing and happy but being mistreated left her unsure and timid under certain circumstances. As soon as she trusts you though, she's a bundle of fun and cuddliness.
Padma's energy level is medium. She loves to have a good time, play with toys, do a few bouts of zoomies in the yard but she's just as much into cuddling and snuggling on the couch. She is not overly needy, but boy does she thrives on affection.
Behavior with people:
Poor sweet girl is a little conflicted right now. We dont think she's met nice people before so she still cant believe her luck. Her greetings are anxious but so hopeful. Its obvious that she loves people but she isn't used to people loving her. Rest assure that we are working at curbing her apprehension. Her gratitude is palpable.
When excited, Padma does little love nips. Nothing serious and she is already very responsive to leadership. This behavior shouldn't be a long lasting issues.
Behavior with children:
Padma hasn't been introduced to children since being with us. We cant tell for sure how she would do. Dogs that are born shy are not always the best ones with kids but we dont think its the case with Padma. We have a feeling she was born an outgoing, happy little dog, who was mistreated and became a little timid as a result. Until we know her better however, we prefer a home with older children or adults only, since little ones dont always know how to read a dog who's uncomfortable in certain circumstances. This stipulation might change in the future. Padma hasn't done anything to indicate she would be a problem with kids. We just dont want to overwhelm her as she is a sensitive dog.
Behavior with other dogs:

Behavior with other animals:
She's very responsive and eager to learn how to become a normal, well cared-for companion.
Padma is so grateful. It's hard to imagine someone mistreated such a sweet and sensitive dog but all signs point to a hard life. Still, she is so eager to put her past behind her and learn to be happy without fear. We think this sweet little beauty will become extremely attached to her loved-ones and spend her life making sure they know how grateful she is.
