"Nellie the Elephant" relates the story of an elephant who is returning to her home after escaping from the circus.
This pretty blue girl was found as a stray and taken to the city pound from which she was never claimed. We have no information regarding her past.
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Age: 10-14 months
Color: Blue and White
Miss Nellie is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, chipped and ready for adoption.
Dark blue beauty, Medium size, though she might still have a little more growing up to do. She is between coats right now and shedding puppy fuzz.
Nellie is having a great time at MPR shelter. She does well in her kennel, is quiet and patient. She has been known to shred a blanket or two though... She's still very much a puppy and her juvenile behavior is to be expected.
Very fun-loving puppy with a big happy personality. She knows no stranger and loves everyone. Nellie is very green and in the process of learning everything she needs to know about life. She's a work in progress but full of potential.
Nellie is well-balanced and has a very positive nature. Her level of energy is typical for a young dog her age. She loves to play and have a good time.
Behavior with people:
Very friendly, outgoing, loves meeting new people. Nellie is always in a good mood and eager to expand her circle of friends. A real social butterfly.
Behavior with children:
She'd love a home full of kids, though she might be a little too boisterous for toddlers at the moment. She's just a typical teenager pittie. She needs consistency, structure and training. She is responsive and eager to fit in. Great potential as family companion. She's the type who'd love to be in the middle of the action with everyone.
Behavior with other dogs:
Unknown. We will update her info once we know more about her. She is not showing any alarming behavior towards the dogs in the kennels next to her at the shelter. She seems curious and interested in making friends but might come across a little forcefully. We think a home with a young, playful male might be an option for her a long as he would tolerate her exuberant play style. Slow introductions highly recommended.
Behavior with other animals:
Little training but learning. She understands the concept on not pottying in her kennel but she's had a few accidents in the playrooms. She shows a lot of potential but needs to be let outside on a regular basis. We think she will be a fast learner and should thrive with positive leadership.
She's cute but her fun-loving personality is what's best about her. She's just a happy clown who wants to say hello to everyone and make as many friends as she can. Her joyful spirit, expressive eyes and happy face will brighten anyone's day.
