Mirabelle is a female name stemming from the Latin word mirabilis, meaning "wondrous" or "of wondrous beauty".
Mirabelle was a favorite at the city pound and a plea was made in her name to join MPR program. It’s not hard to see why. She’s quit the irresistible little doll. We don’t know under what circumstances this fun-loving gal lost her home but we know that she is not letting her ordeal break her spirit. She’s a trouper.

Mirabelle stays at MPR shelter in an indoor/outdoor kennel. She is very well behaved in her kennel. She keeps the inside clean and uses the doggy-door to potty outside. She is quiet in her kennel and low reactive to the dogs that walks in front of her. She doesn’t cage fight and seems way more interested in people’s attention than she is in starting trouble with her 4-legged neighbors.
Mirabelle has two strong traits; When she’s in her kennel she is a little timid, reserved and submissive. She has mastered the art of the “sad-puppy-eyes” to make us feel sorry for her and let her out. Once out, she remains a little unsure until you get a toy out… Then she forgets all about her reservations and fun-time is ON! Indeed, Maribelle looooooves to play with toys. Chewing, fetching, running around bragging about her catch, tug-o-war, you name it. If it involves a toy, she’s on board.
We would say that Mirabelle has a medium to high level of energy. She is not hyper by any means, and she can certainly be a loving couch-potato if this is what everyone else is doing, but she definitely loves a good game and enjoys doing the zoomies in the yard.
When it comes to people, she is very responsive and even on a submissive side, unless she has a toy. Then she gets a little more “rowdy”. Not aggressive, but definitely into the game. She is vocal when she plays with a low rumble that makes her sound much bigger than she is. It’s very funny. We call her the little lion.
Behavior with people:
She is very eager to know that people are her friend. She’s a little unsure when meeting a new person but get the toy out and she forgets right away that you were a stranger a minute ago. You then have a best friend for life.
Behavior with children:
She hasn’t been around children since being with us. We will update her bio if that information becomes available to us.
Behavior with other dogs:
We are unsure at this point. We know that she would be totally awesome as an only pet. She doesn’t show any aggression towards the other dogs at the shelter but her playing style could perhaps overwhelm other dogs. It depends on their personality.
Behavior with other animals:
She’s smart, sharp, has good timing reaction, eager to please and very toy motivated. We bet she would ace obedience training and might even be a great candidate for Frisbee or other fun canine games.
She’s an adorable stocky little low-rider. She’s fun-loving, smart and obedient. She’s cute and looooooves the play. She’s full of fun!
