The name Luna is a girl's name of Italian origin meaning "moon". The name of the Roman goddess of the moon, Luna is derived straight from the Latin word for moon, luna.

Background Info:

Puppy Luna was surrendered to the city shelter by her family because they had exhausted all their financial resources on her costly health problems and could no longer afford additional medical bills. The family did what they thought was best for her and hoped someone else would be able to get her the medical care she needs to get back on her paws.

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed:  Olde Bulldogge
Sex:  Female
Age:  10 months
Weight: 50 lbs
Color:  White & Chocolate

Health Condition:

Luna was bought from a breeder in 2019. At an early age, she developed issues with her back legs. Her family took her to several vets and she received a FHO surgery in September 2019.  Sadly, it didn't resolve her condition.

It's possible Luna was misdiagnosed and received improper treatment. Amputation was even discussed, which might have likely caused her even more problems since both of her back legs are affected by what appears to be a birth defect. MPR stepped up and miss Luna is currently at our vet, receiving a full health assessment. She is meeting with a specialist and we will update her bio once we have more information.

Fundraising plea:

MPR has recently rescued several dogs plagued with costly and debilitating medical conditions. Our fund is now dangerously low. We would like to continue helping dogs like Luna who need a little extra care to become "adoptable". She's a sweet girl, cute, happy and very well behaved. Her condition is not affecting her morale. She is full of love for life. We can only rely on assistance from our supporters and hope financial help will be provided. MPR operates solely with volunteers and receives no government funding.

Even if you can’t adopt little miss Luna, you can still help by donating for her care.

Physical Description:

Luna is not a Pit Bull. She is a pure breed "Olde English Bulldogge". The breed has been recognized by the UKC since 2014. Luna has a little more growing up to do. OLDE's are usually taller than English Bulldogs but smaller than American Bulldogs.  Luna appears conformed to the standard described for the breed.

Living Situation:

Luna is currently staying at the vet while her medical condition is assessed. We will update her bio with more info once we have been recommended a course of action.

Here's a few notes from Luna's previous family: "Luna is so kind and loving and she is the biggest little wiggle worm, with a hugest doggie heart. She loves to play with a soccer ball but a tennis ball will do. She enjoys to play tug a war. She is house trained. She knows the command sit and come and was learning lay down. She absolutely adores kids we have 5. She loves the outdoors but is an indoor dog."
