The jitterbug is a kind of dance popularized in the United States in the early 20th century, and is associated with various types of swing dances such as the Lindy Hop, the Jive, and the East Coast Swing.
Miss little Jitterbug was found as a stray, brought to the city shelter by animal control and never claimed. We have no information about her past but we can tell you that this amusing wiggle-bug is all smiles when it comes to the future.

She's tiny! You can pick her up! Very compact and athletic and gorgeous dark blue coat.
Jitterbug is loving life at the MPR shelter. She's doing awesome. She loves her comfy bed and does well in her kennel. She has already figured out how to use her doggy-door to go potty in her outside run. She's good with her bedding and jeeps her kennel neat. While we never heard her bark, she does a funny yodeling sound when she wants attention.
What a FUNNY goofball! That name is perfect for her. She is such a little harlequin! Jitterbug is always in a good mood and loves being around people. She dances, shakes her booty, wiggles her butt, and when she's done, she rolls on her back for belly rubs. We love her! She's a great representative of the breed. Happy, forgiving, and very positive. And she is soooo cute!!
VIDEO: ARE YOU A PRETTY GIRL? YES!
Behavior with people:
She hilariously can't contain her joy to be with her loved-ones! Since she is so small though, she's actually very easy to handle. Her happy greetings are priceless. She hops in the air and wiggles at the same time. Too funny! We can't believe someone abandoned her. She is so lovable and irresistible and is the perfect companion to come home to.
That said, she needs a little bit of work with socialization. Sometimes she gets a little overwhelmed when meeting people she doesn't know and can be unsure.. It doesn't last long though. Give her a few minutes to figure out new comers are friends, not foes and she'll immediately turn on the wiggle dance!
Behavior with children:
We don't expect her to be a problem with older kids, provided they can handle her happy energy. She's small, so that makes it easier. She's a little jumpy but very responsive. She is mouthy but we are working on it. We believe she would do well with dog-savvy children. Not recommended in a home with small kids and toddlers.
Behavior with other dogs:
Unknown since being with us, but she was introduced to other dogs prior to coming into our program. We were told she was a rowdy player and annoyed some dogs. She's a bit of a firecracker when it comes to other pets and also shows physical signs that she might have irritated a few of them at some point. A home with a very tolerant and playful male is not ruled-out if the owners understand the breed very well, but she would do awesome as an only pet.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown but she might be a little too interested in small creatures to be safe with a cat.
Responsive and smart. She keeps her kennel clean, so housebreaking should not be a problem.
Jitterbug recently enrolled in a training class and shes doing awesome! As we expected, she is smart, alert and loves to learn. The training team is primarily working on reactivity on leash when she sees other animals and she is making progress.
The word ADORABLE was invented for her! She really is a delightful little wiggle-butt and is full of potential. Her best trait though is her sense of humor. She is really, REALLY funny!
