Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Jinbao was found as an emaciated stray and taken to the local city shelter. His endearing personality gained the staffs attention. They alerted MPR to bring him into our program and we are glad they did.

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Male
Age: 3-5 yrs
Weight: 60-70 lbs

Health Condition:

Jinbao came into the MPR program emaciated but is now on a weight gaining diet to help him get to healthy weight. Other than needing to put on some pounds, Jinbao is healthy and ready to go home with his forever family.

Physical Description:

Jinbao is on the taller side for a Pit Bull mix. Once at healthy weight he will be on the larger side, which is needed to fit this sweet boy's giant heart. This tall drink of water has long legs and body. Jinbao has the softest snow like white coat with pumpkin orange spots on each side of his face and ears. At times, Jinbao can have the biggest "puppy dog eyes" look and you cannot resist but to lean in and give him a kiss.

Current Living Situation:

Jinbao is settling in at the MPR shelter. quite nicely He seems to keep a clean kennel and uses his doggy door to go outside and use the bathroom. He likes to sit in front of his kennel door and watch the volunteers, patiently waiting for his turn to be let out. When in the playroom he can start off a little excited but with good leadership he is learning to keep all four on the floor. After he has said his hello's he seems to want to just melt into your lap.

Personality:

Jinbao loves fast and loves hard. This casanova is always so happy to see our volunteers when they let him out of his kennel. He loves to give affection to everyone he comes across and so far knows no stranger. This boy truly has a heart of gold and has our volunteers smitten each and every time they get the pleasure of interacting with him. As Jinbao gets healthier he is showing he may have a higher energy level that would do best in an active household.

Behavior with people:

Being with his humans is Jinbao's favorite pastime. This happy boy is still learning his size and loves to jump into our volunteers laps as soon as they sit down, so get ready for a ball of love coming in hot! We are working on teaching him to ask for his attention first but he would benefit from continuing his training in his new home. Once introductions have been made and he gives you some kisses, he is totally content with using your lap or belly as a pillow and will fall asleep in your arms so that you feel guilty just at the thought of getting up. Jinbao has shown to be nothing but a total sweetheart to everyone at the shelter and considers himself a bit of a ESP (emotional support Pittie).

Behavior with children:

Jinbao would do best in a home with teenagers or adults only. A happy boy his size gets excited to greet people and could be too much for smaller children.

Behavior with other dogs:

We think that with proper slow introductions Jinbao could live in a home with a compatible female dog.

Behavior with other animals:

We have no information on Jinbao with other animals

Training:

To no surprise, Jinbao is very eager to please which is a huge plus when training dogs. In his brief time at MPR Jinbao has already learned 'sit' and 'down'. The MPR training team is working with him daily to teach him more commands along with keeping all 4 on the floor when greeting people and other needed everyday manners.

Best Attribute:

Every day is Valentines Day when Jinbao is around. Even with his handsome looks and the softest coat at MPR, it is Jinbao's big heart that has every volunteer wrapped around his paw. Jinbao is always so happy to see everyone and it is impossible not to feel loved when you are with him. This dog will turn a bad day around as soon as you walk through the door.  All he needs is a forever family that can reciprocate even half of the miles and miles of affection he has to offer. Jinbao is someone's "soul dog". Is that lucky person you?

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
