"Life is a lot like jazz... It's best when you improvise."
~ George Gershwin
It's always heartbreaking when someone gets rid of an older dog. In this case, it’s even more upsetting since the dog in question was adopted through MPR about 5 years ago. Jazzy was originally found abandoned by his owners tied up in the backyard of a vacant house. We found him a loving home only to see him been returned 5 years later because his owner could no longer take care of him. We long to see this dog find someone who will never give up on him.

Jazzy is fostered in a home with 2 other dogs; an older male mutt and a 3 year old pit bull. We have a backyard that Jazzy uses to go potty. He enjoys going on a nightly walk. He is kenneled when his foster parents are at work. When they are home, Jazzy loves nothing more than cuddling on the couch with his foster parents and the other dogs.
Jazzy is a laid back guy. He's very calm and quiet. Easy to handle and eager to please. He is a little needy though (who would blame him), and craves affection. He loves being right next to you, or preferably, “on” you.
Behavior with People:
He can be a little timid at first but warms up quickly. He loves to cuddle and scoot over to be closer to you if you move at all. He is very loving and affectionate.
Behavior with children:
Jazzy was around children before and we were told he was great around them. He is a gentle, laid back dog and has great manners. That said, he is a little sensitive so for his sake, we would prefer a home with adults or older, respectful kids.
Behavior with other dogs:
Jazzy is great with our dogs. He gets happy to see them and loves cuddling with them on the couch. He does great on walks with them as well. Jazzy would be a great addition to a home with other dogs or as an only child.
Behavior with other animals:
Jazzy is turning into quite the squirrel chaser and thinks it's the most fun ever. He would definitely do better in a home without cats, although he previously showed no interest in them.
Jazzy knows all basic commands, doesn't jump to greet people. He knows all his manners, crate trained and house broken. He is very easy and very well behaved. A breeze compared to the rambunctious puppies we have been fostering before him. We’re finding out that old dogs are really wonderful.
His eyes talk to your soul….. You can tell Jazzy’s eyes are searching for love and for someone who will never give up on him again. He is a wonderful, calm, easy, well behaved companion. Can't ask for a better dog.
