Indie

This girl's name can be used as a shortened form of "Independent," but has a pleasant bohemian feel. It signifies a freedom-loving and free-spirited individual.
Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Indie was found as a stray by Animal Control and taken to the local pound. We don’t have any information about her past, but such a good-looking, young girl has a very bright future ahead of her!
Adoption Fee: $ 250
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 6+ mth
Weight: Growing
Health Condition:
Healthy and ready to be adopted.
Physical Description:
Indie has a velvety soft blue coat with a splash of white on her chest and on the bridge of her nose. She has a small, but athletic build. Her expressive light brown eyes really stand out in the sunlight.
Current Living Situation:
She lives in a foster home with three humans and some other four-legged friends – a male pit mix around her same age and two cats (one female & one male).
Indie is crate trained and sleeps in it at night except for when she occasionally talks her foster parents into cuddling up in bed with them. Her foster mom says never whines or has any issues with her crate overnight or when her foster parents are away from the house.
Indie has access to a fenced yard to do her business and appears to be housebroken. She has not had any accidents indoors.
Personality:
This sweetheart was a little bit shy when she first got to her foster home, but she quickly blossomed into a fantastic, well-balanced dog. She has an even temperament. After running off some energy or playing with her k9 foster brother, all Indie wants to do is be with her people and cuddle up for a good nap.
Behavior with people:
She is outgoing with everyone. Foster mom reports that she has warmed up quickly to everyone she meets and instantly makes friends.
Behavior with children:
Indie is equally friendly with kids. She has been around them a few times in her foster home and behaves well overall. She can get a little bit jumpy, but she’s never mouthy or too rambunctious. She would love a home with children to pal around with, but she will need to learn that all four must be on the floor!
Behavior with other dogs:
This girl adores her foster brother. He is about the same age and little bit bigger, but the pair are always together. Whether they are running around the yard or cuddling up together to take a nap, they are inseparable. Foster mom thinks Indie would thrive with a compatible playmate. She takes their cues well and follows their behavior.
Behavior with other animals:
Indie lives with two cats. She has not shown any aggression towards them, but her foster parents do sometimes separate them to give the cats a break. Indie is like an annoying little sister sometimes. She’s quite curious and loves to follow them around. She could potentially do just fine living with cats once the newness of them wore off.
Training:
Foster mom reports that Indie is housebroken and crate trained. She already knows basic commands and is very responsive to learning new things.
Best Attribute:
Indie’s loving heart is what wins everyone over. She craves human interaction (and dogs for that matter) and it’s clear that her favorite activity is snuggling up with her people. Indie is so sweet and wants nothing more than a family that will love on her forever.
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
