Geoffrey

Geoffrey is the light-hearted mascot of Toys "R" Us, meant to represent the kid in all of us.

Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Geoffrey landed at the city pound as a stray, but sadly it wasn't his first stint there. This time, his family didn't come back for him. We don't know why they left him behind, and we have no information regarding his past with them. What we do know is that it's hard to comprehend why someone would abandon such a sweetheart of a dog.

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed:  Pit Bull Mix
Sex:  Male
Age: 1-3
Weight: 70-80 lbs

Health Condition:

Geoffrey is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

Geoffrey is an absolute dream boat! He looks like a tall giraffe with his white and fawn spotted coat. His nose freckles give all the volunteers heart eyes for him. He is tall, lean, and gorgeous. He's gazelle-like when he prances around the shelter, but a little clumsy like a baby deer who's just figuring out how to use their legs. The best part of his dandy appearance is his oversized lips that sometimes get stuck in his teeth and give him the sweetest derpy look.

Current Living Situation:

Geoffrey is currently staying at MPR shelter and shelter life is not his cup of tea. Since he was a family companion before, being homeless is taking its toll on him. He doesn't handle being alone in his kennel very well when he knows volunteers are at the shelter spending time with the other dogs. He just craves attention and affection so bad that it breaks his heart to have to wait for his turn. He's like, "Hey guys, I'm over here! Come love me!"

When he gets his one-on-one time, he's the sweetest boy and follows you around eagerly wanting to be everywhere you are.  If you are tired of lonely trips to the bathroom, rest assured that will never happen if you welcome this lover boy in your life. He will gladly guard you and make sure to keep you company when you're most vulnerable... 🤦😂

Personality:

Geoffrey is sweet and loving. At this time he's not overly playful with toys, and prefers to spend his time being your shadow, cuddling, or getting loved on. His biggest priority is definitely people and he would be a great dog for someone who wants their pup to be their best friend and include him in many aspects of their life. His goofiness will surely keep you amused. If Geoffrey were one of the Seven Dwarfs, he would be Dopey!

Overall, Geoffrey has a very well balanced energy level. He will keep up with your activities but he doesn't require a ton of exercise. He'll enjoy long walks and might even accompany you on a short jog, but he doesn't need to run a marathon to be happy.

Geoffrey is eager to please and his favorite reward is your love and attention.

Behavior with people:

In case you hadn't noticed, Geoffrey LOVES people! He's an enthusiastic greeter and he's always thrilled to meet new friends. He's an extrovert and would be in total heaven being in a room full of people where he could go from person to person getting loved on. He is a social butterfly and would thrive in a home that includes him in all activities with the family!

Behavior with children:

Unknown, but with his "Marmaduke" personality, we can't imagine him having any problem with children. He is large and lively though, so that would be one thing to note.

Behavior with other dogs:

Geoffrey does not seem very interested in other dogs at the shelter. He truly has a one-track mind for people. He has a happy-go-lucky personality so we could see him doing well with a female with a similar easy going demeanor. While at the city pound, he was briefly introduced to other dogs and did very well. His behavior was described as social and tolerant.

Behavior with other animals:

On walks we haven't noticed a high prey drive with squirrels or other small animals. He's very intrigued by the world around him and he's the observant type more than anything.

Training:

In regards to potty training, Geoffrey was working through some stomach issues when he first arrived at MPR shelter, so he had a hard time holding it very long. Yet, he always used his doggy door to potty in his outside run and never had accidents inside.

When it comes to obedience, is he DEFINITELY eager to please. He wants to be attentive and please his person because he knows it will lead to love, which is what he desires most. We believe obedience training would be a breeze with him.

Best Attribute:

The best thing about Geoffrey is his sweet and loving nature. We just love his awkward gallop with his big long legs, and when his upper lip gets stuck in his teeth! He's got a sweet and slightly dopey personality that everyone who meets him immediately falls in love with. As mentioned before, he really is a Velcro dog and wants to be wherever his person is. His perfect family will want to include him in their life in as many ways as possible, give him tons of the love his craves, and embrace his goofy and sweet personality. Geoffrey is a big time volunteer favorite who's sweet ways melts everyone's heart! He's going to be the best dog for the right family.
