Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
We don't have much detail about Florentine's life pre-MPR. She joined our program from the city shelter.

Physical Description:
Florentine has the most beautiful brindle coat with white accents. She is a petite girl with big paws that will walk right into your heart! She is a unique blend of breeds, and you can see qualities from them all - especially her adorable Frenchy looking face.
Current Living Situation:
Flo is fostered in a home with two adults. She has access to a small, fenced in yard and is the only pet in the home. When Florentine first arrived, she was crated overnight but quickly gained more freedom to be loose in the house at night. She also stays in the crate when her foster parents work during the day or are gone for more than 2-3 hours. She has been doing well with the crate training!
Florentine loves going on walks and outings! She's been exposed to other dogs and done very well in those interactions. Foster mom says she does phenomenal in the car and loves exploring new places and smells!
Personality:
Florentine is an extremely easy going and happy dog! When she's not out on adventures and walks, she is the ultimate couch potato! Flo is very eager to please her humans and responds very well to direction. She has an expressive face and it seems you can tell what's on her mind. Her wide range of expressions is one of her best qualities! She also maintains eye contact for long periods of time, which makes her a great candidate for training.
Behavior with people:
Flo loves people! She's outgoing and friendly with everyone she meets. She's truly an innocent, loving spirit just looking for someone to cling to and love forever.
Behavior with children:
Florentine is not regularly exposed to children in the foster home, but she has met foster mom's 6 year old nephew, and did well! She can get overly excited but responds well and corrects with direction, especially when there's a treat involved :)
Behavior with other dogs:
Florentine has been getting along great with the other dogs she's met while in her foster home! She is curious about other dogs and eager to make new doggy friends! With proper introductions, she could live with a compatible male dog in her forever home.
Behavior with other animals:
She has not shown any signs of prey drive so far in the foster home. Florentine is excited to meet everything and everyone! Proper introductions would be necessary for a home with any other animals.
Training:
Florentine has done very well with training so far! She knows sit and stay, and foster mom is working on a "dance" command where she gets up on her hind legs. She is a fantastic candidate for continued training! She is very responsive, eager to please, and food motivated which makes training fun!
Best Attribute:
Flo's best traits are her cute squishy face, with her adorable underbite, and her eagerness to share her unconditional love! She is a total velcro dog, wanting to be by your side day in and day out! If you're looking for a new bestie, Florentine is your girl!
