A family companion who is extraordinarily intelligent and keeps a watchful eye on all of his loved ones.
We are unaware of the circumstances in which Flipper lost his previous home. He had been noticed by the intake staff at the city pound and they recommended that we meet him. Flipper quickly worked his charm on our volunteer in charge of choosing dogs for the program. His adorable floppy ears, sweet eyes and friendly personality won us over and he the lucky boy is now part of our program, ready for his second chance to find love.

Flipper is a healthy boy, ready to go as soon as someone wants to give him a chance. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations.
Note that his tail was docked recently, due to an an injury he suffered before his rescue. It actually looks kind of cute and fits with his name :-)
This gorgeous blue boy is average in size, though slightly taller than some. His coat is shinny and soft and his eyes bright and happy.
Flipper currently lives at MPR’s shelter and is struggling with his abandonment. We believe this sweetie was a family pet before and he knows what he’s missing. He’s doing his very best but kennel life is taking its toll on him. We hope someone will soon come to his rescue and give him a chance to prove himself in a home. We have a feeling he would be a well behaved, loving and easy companion. When it’s his turn to spend time with volunteers at the shelter, Flipper is the happiest dog on the planet. He likes to run a few laps in the yard, smell all the flowers, and then play fetch for hours. Flipper would love a home with a large fenced in yard to throw his ball. He will surely entertain you for hours.
Medium level of energy. Quite perfect for the breed. He loves to play fetch and puts all his heart into it but he is definitely not a spazz. If you'd rather relax on the couch, he’s all for it. Even though Flipper loves attention, he will quickly turn a game of fetch into a solo chewing session and won’t be bothering you if you’re too busy for him.
Flipper is outgoing with most people but can be a little subdue with strangers. Nothing bad. He just wants to make sure no one has any bad intentions towards him. He warms up very quickly.
Flipper is well adjusted when it comes to temperament. Eager to please, but not a push-over. He is responsive to leadership, alert and very smart.
Behavior with people:
Flipper is definitely a people-dog. He gets along great with all volunteers and enjoys everyone’s company. He likes attention and cuddling but nothing beats a game of fetch! He’s a happy boy most of the time, but can be a bit of a big baby occasionally, who likes to be reassured. Get the ball out and the smile instantly reappears on his face. He is very easy to please.
Behavior with children:
Flipper has not met toddlers since being with us but he's been with older children. He is easy-going when he takes a treat and brings you back his ball after playing fetch. We think he would do awesome in a home with teenagers that like having a best pal to play with.
Behavior with other dogs:
Flipper has been introduced to other dogs and did well. He would probably do great in a home with a compatible female, though he could be happy as an only pet too.
Behavior with other animals:
Flipper does not like cats.
Since arriving at our shelter, our volunteers are teaching flipper all the basic commands, sit, stay, off, down. etc. He is very treat motivated and loves the attention and one-on-one time with his people. He hasn't had any accidents in his kennel so we think he is house trained. He is a gentleman on leash! He is such a smart boy that we believe he will breeze through any training.
When we picked Flipper up from the pound he didn't understand how to get in a car. Once in, he loved the wind flowing through his adorable ears. We think he'd love some Sunday drives with his family, getting a treat and enjoying the weather with you.
This gorgeous dog with the soft ears and cute smile is full of potential as family companion. He could make a great brother to a compatible female dog and be your teenagers’ favorite play buddy. Flipper enjoys being around all kinds of people and show off his skills at fetching. He would be the perfect pal for long walks in the neighborhood or just chilling at home chewing on a toy. He’s got “best friend” written all over him.
