Dasani

Dasani is a brand of water and Miss Dasani is as pure as her name. Just like you can't live without water, you shouldn't want to live without Dasani.

Background Info:

Dasani Blue was found by a staff member of the local pound, on the side of the road, trying to survive in the cold, eating what ever she could find. Life had obviously been hard for this sweet girl and she was incredibly grateful to finally find help.

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed:  Am Staff
Sex:  Female
Age:  4-6 yrs
Weight:  55 lbs
Color:  Blue
Good with dogs:  Yes
Good with cats:  Unknown

Health Condition:

Dasani is heartworm positive and has began treatment in early March. She will be rid of the disease by Mid April. Heartworms are unfortunately very common in Missouri dogs that are not receiving monthly prevention. Thankfully, the prognostic is excellent once the condition has been treated. Dasani is currently going through 6 weeks of rest, following the injections she received to destroy the worms in her heart and lungs.

Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for her care.

Living Situation:

Dasani lived in a foster home with kids and other dogs.  When home alone she is crated.  She does very well in her crate and doesn't seem to mind spending time in it.  She is free to roam at night and when her humans are home.

Personality:

Dasani is the easiest foster I have ever had. She is well-behaved, house-trained, and very mellow. All she wants to do is snuggle on the couch. She is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys riding in the car. She is friendly to everyone she meets.

She would prefer to sleep in my bed every night but has settled with a dog bed next to my bed. She does well with my male pit bull, however she is overly interested and snarky to my small dog. I think she would enjoy an easy going male that is her size, but should not go to a home with any small animals. I think she would also do fine if she was the only pet. She prefers human attention over anything.

She did get out of my yard-I "think" she jumped the fence even though I did not see her do it-I cannot find any other way she could have gotten out. I let her out and supervise her-she likes to go out and do her business and come right back inside.

Behavior with people:

Dasani has good manners when meeting new people.  She enjoys making new friends and is friendly with everyone that she has met.

Behavior with children:

She also is well-behaved with children and would love a home with a family with kids.

Behavior with other dogs:

We believe that Dasani would do good in a home with a compatible male that is her size.  She would also thrive in a home as an only dog as she loves to soak up the attention.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown.  She has shown some prey drive and may not be suited to be in a home with small animals.

Training:

Dasani is house broken.  She is working to master her basic commands.  She is very responsive and should advance well in training.

Best Attribute:

Dasani thinks she is a lap dog. If I wanted to her to lay on the couch with me all day she would not move. She is SO affectionate
