Gaining weight from coming to the pound emaciated. His right eye might have suffered an injury at some point. Tests cleared it of any infection so its most likely just a scar from his sad past. It doesn't seem to cause him any impairment.
Bulldogs require maintenance care to prevent health issues, especially skin, ears, teeth and eyes. Cuddlefish loves to get his adorable face folds cleaned with a baby wipe daily. Cuddlefish might have gone years without a proper bath as his belly fur was stained when he arrived to us. It will come out over time.
He is HW negative, up-to-date on vaccinations and neutered.
VIDEO: CUDDLEFISH GETS PAMPERED
An irresistible low rider. Stocky but with good mobility. Very symmetrical, cropped ears. His appearance will most likely be accepted in places with BSL.
Cuddlefish is enjoying life at MPR's shelter. He adapted well to his situation and is a good sport. He was slightly timid when he arrived but warmed up quickly.
Somewhat submissive with people but quickly turns into an outgoing little clown. Couch potato is an understatement. He's pretty chill most of the time but has a playful, silly goofball side too.
Cuddle loves following his person around but is not overly needy. He will let you do your work while he snores at your foot.
Low exercise needs. Going for long strolls isn't really his thing. He will probably never run a marathon (unless its a Netflix marathon with his people on the couch!).
His low center of gravity makes car transportation a breeze.
Behavior with people:
Cuddlefish loves everyone! Though a bit timid for the first few seconds, he quickly gets over it and showers you with drooly kisses. He's very affectionate and loves to be loved on.
Behavior with children:
There are no kids in his current environment. He has not given us any reasons to believe he wouldn't be fine with respectable children. He's a laid-back goofball, though he does occasionally get a little boisterous like a typical Bulldog. His bouts of energy and activity never last long.
Behavior with other dogs:
Cuddlefish accidentally met a female dog during a short stay in foster care. She was older, set in her ways and grumpy. She didn't welcome his unexpected presence with opened paws, which triggered a short-lived scuffle. Cuddles didn't back down but was responsive when foster mom intervened. Still, we believe a home without another dog would be best for him. He doesn't seem like the kind who wants to share his loved-ones' attention. He's a people-dog.
Behavior with other animals:
Cuddlefish isn't a big fan of cats. He would do best in a home with no cats.
Housebroken, crate trained, learning obedience. VERY food motivated. He jumps sometimes but is gentle about it. We are working to let him know he doesn't need to jump up to get all the lovings.
His underbite is the absolute CUTEST! If you're looking for a homebody that will be your faithful sidekick, Cuddlefish is just what you need! He's adorable inside and out with a comical and easy-going personality.
