Living Situation:

Clyde has settled nicely in a loving foster home. He is definitely used to being in a home and agrees with the notion of being a couch potato. Clyde is fostered with 6 small chihuahuas and 1 cat. There are a lot of grand kids that visit his foster too. He's definitly exposed to all parts of family life. He enjoys the neighbor kids and loves to give them slobbery kisses through the fence.

Clydesdale is not kenneled at all in his foster home because of separation anxiety. He needs a family with someone around at all times and the freedom to roam. He is house trained and is very careful around all the obstacles in the house. With the freedom to roam and enjoy his space kennel free, clydesdale shows no anxiety and is the happiest boy ever.

Behavior with people:

Clyde is a big goofy clown. He is a showy dog and loves to amuse the gallery with his antics. He’s funny and he knows it.

Clyde loves to snuggle and play with toys. He's not too clingy, as long as he gets the attention he feels he deserves. He's such a derpy dog; he will have you laughing and smiling all the time! Despite is size, there’s not a mean bone in his body. The gentle giant has no malice but can be a little rambunctious at time. It doesn’t last long though. He is very content with sharing toys and just lying on the floor with other dogs and people around chewing on his bone. One of Clyde’s favorite activities is snoozing on the couch…. Oh, and he snores!

Behavior with children:

His initial rescuer told us that he’s been around children before. He is a big dog so might unintentionally knock little kids over. Or lick their whole face with his goofy tongue, but again, he’s just a happy goofball who loves everyone. This big cartoon character is as comfortable, outgoing and friendly with small kids as he is with adults. We think Clyde will be a fantastic family companion, especially if everyone has a great sense of humor and likes to be entertained by silly clowns.

Behavior with other dogs:

He is a big softy when it comes to other dogs. He plays when they want to play. He will also walk away if they aren’t in a playing mood. If any of the dogs are barking on the other side of the fence; he does not  participate and just does his business and goes back inside. If the other dogs are playing; he will run along the fence back and forth and enjoy their company. He gets along great with his 6 foster chihuahuas and would do well in a home with a compatible female.

Behavior with other animals:

Clydesdale has been slowly introduced to the cat he lives with and he is not a big fan of her. His foster parents are slower working on an introduction to get him comfortable around cats but in the mean time he would do best in a home with no cats.

Training:

Clyde is housebroken and very eager to please. He is the only dog that will go outside to do his business in the rain. He listens to commands. He knows the basics (sit, stay, down, off, no), but if he is focused on something it takes time to get his attention back (we are working on this). He is not crate trained. He has severe anxiety. Clyde likes a space to lay around and stretch out all day.

Best Attribute:

He is always smiling and trying to please his humans. He likes to be around his foster family (humans and dogs) and make sure they are alright and safe. When he has a treat coming, and he knows it, he starts making bubbles out of the side of his mouth and it is very adorable to watch. He lays on his chair or his couch and just stretches out like a human and just loves to be comfy. He is a super goofball; if he runs into something, he will turn around and have no idea what happened and look around. He truly is a one-of-a-kind dog and will surely have you laughing for many days to come!
