Hello, my name is James P. Sullivan. I am named after Sully from Monster's Inc because I'm just a big lovable guy.

I was found running the streets about a year ago. A nice couple's dog had jumped the fence and we were running together so they scooped us both up.

A friend's dog had ran off and was found running around with JP. He had the sweetest face so they couldn't let him stay living on the streets! I took him to the vet the next morning to have him scanned for a microchip, neutered and vaccinated.

Living Situation: I've had JP for a year now. When he first came into my life, he was very shy and needed a lot of love to come out of his shell. But boy has he come out of his shell!  JP has been living with 4 other dogs and a cat. He absolutely loves his foster sisters but is way too interested in the cat. So a home with no cats would be preferred for both of their safety. He also lives with 2 young boys that are a little too much excitement for JP. A home with older children would work best.

Behavior with people: He loves every visitor that comes over and we are still working on jumping. He no longer jumps on me or my roommate but will try his luck if someone allows him to jump.

Behavior with children: There are 2 young boys with special needs in this house. They don't know how to stay calm so we keep JP  away from them. I think JP would be fine with children that are calm and know how to act around dogs.

Behavior with other dogs: JP lives with 4 female dogs. 2 are under 15#'s and the other 2 are his size. He loves all of his sisters and I feel comfortable with him rough housing even with the small dogs.

Behavior with other pets: JP is way too interested in cats so a home with no cats is preferred.

Training: JP knows "sit" and expects his good boy sit treat! He strives for human approval. He responds very well to no. Sometimes he does still get a little excited and needs a moment to calm down. He is usually fine after a short "time out" in his kennel. :)  JP used to climb our chain link fence and try to run the neighborhood but with training and a watchful eye, he now doesn't even attempt to bust out of the yard.

JP would do great as an apartment dog or with a yard. He would need to be supervised off leash since he has history of climbing the fence. His ideal person would want to continue basic training with be consistent with commands.
